Drowsy driving is something I have seen and experienced first hand. It is incredibly dangerous, putting others and the driver at a higher risk of harm if one drives while tired. To avoid the chance of getting into an accident due to drowsy driving one needs to pay attention to their condition before they get in the driver’s seat. Warning signs are easy to spot if a person is paying attention to their own physical condition and others are also paying attention before a person departs from a location. Warning signs would include someone looking exhausted or beginning to nod off before even getting in the car. People should avoid driving at very late hours if they haven’t slept since the previous night. Even if one feels fine when first getting …show more content…
in the car they can quickly become tired and have a higher potential of dozing off while in the driver’s seat. It is also good to avoid taking medications or ingesting any type of food or beverage that can make one tired before driving. The warning signs of a drowsy driver are easy to spot or notice in oneself and need to be paid attention to before another’s departure. This in itself can easily stop a regrettable and easily avoidable accident from happening.
However, the warning signs may not always be noticed. This is something that is inevitable. If someone feels themself beginning to nod off while driving they should pull over immediately. At no point should a tired driver be on the road in this state. It is both reckless and inconsiderate to themselves and others on the road. To prevent drowsy drivers from being on the road there are a few easy solutions to avoid it. The driver should sleep a bit before getting onto the road. The driver or another party should have someone take the driver to their destination. A drowsy driver should at no point go anywhere by themselves. Even if a drowsy driver has gotten a bit of rest it is wise to have caffeine or something of this nature to help keep themselves alert on the road. With simple actions like these one or more lives can be saved from the dangers that driving while tired can bring on. Tired drivers can easily nod off at the wheel and swerve into other cars or objects and thus cause large damages or destruction as a result. People need to become aware of just what kind of risks they take on by getting in that driver’s seat in an exhausted
state. Drivers and those around them must simply be aware of their physical state and have to sense to sleep or request transport instead of getting behind the wheel. It is that simple. Such a small decision could prevent an event that has a large negative impact. No matter the inconvenience, it is better to save a life rather than make things a little easier to get from Point A to Point B. It’s just as easy as making the simple smart decision.
I have outlined to him the pathophysiology of the disorder and treatment options that are available. He will now proceed to a diagnostic sleep study. He has previously had microsleeps when driving a couple of years ago, but has put in place precautions since and has not had any issues of late. It is imperative that he continues to take very strict precautions when driving. He will also need to look at trying to increase his sleep hour
In the passage, “Driving while stupid”, Dave Berry makes the argument that Miami drivers are the worst drivers in the world. He talks about these radical drivers from all around the world; from drivers that are always passing each other, never looking at the road and doing something else, people who drive with their headlights off all the time, to drivers that think that the can just push through all of the traffic in their way. Dave Berry uses very unconventional ways to make his argument, such as humor and hyperboles.
Driving under the influence is extremely dangerous. Those who drink and drive tend to have an increased risk of car accidents, highway injuries, and vehicular fatalities. However, there are countless ways to prevent drunk driving. Professor David J. Hanson at the sociology department at the State University of New York states that “designated drivers have saved nearly 50,000 lives and spared many more thousands of people from suffering injury from drunk driving. It is a proven fact that almost 30 people in the US die every day in a motor vehicle accident involving a driver impaired by alcohol.” Every accident caused by drunk driving is one hundred percent preventable.
Do you know how many people die each year of Drunk Driving ? that’s right a lot nearly 25,000 people die each can you believe it . If you don't like to follow the rules you either get jail time , a harsh punishment ,lose your license not bad right ? It’s not bad its horrible how of one dumb mistake you make you lose everything instantly . You lose your family , your life ,your car , people you love , there’s no going back . Unless you have some kind of magic powers which nobody does . The punishments you get are pretty bad they have different ones in each country . For Example in Turkey you have to walk 2 miles away from your town with a police escort. In other countries you lose your license forever.
Drunk driving has been an increasing problem for many years. One issue that contributes to this is that in the United States it is actually legal to drive with a certain alcohol percentage. The blood alcohol limit is 0.8 percent (Drunk Driving). This means that a person may drive legally as long as they have a blood alcohol percentage of 0.8 percent or under. However, even at a percentage of 0.3 there may be some impairment of alertness and concentration (Drunk Driving). Driving requires fast reflexes that may be impaired at a 0.5 percent blood alcohol level but a person with this level of intoxication is not legally drinking and driving. Many people are arrested for drunk driving. In 2009, more than 1.4 million drivers were arrested for driving while under the influence (Drunk Driving). In addition, “an average drunk driver has driven drunk 80 times before their first arrest” (Get Involved). Therefore, there were a minimum of 112 million accounts of drunk driving in 2009 alone. Drunk drivers also cause an increasing number of deaths. Drunk drivers in the United States c...
Driving under the influence of alcohol affects reaction time and is very dangerous not only for the driver and passengers in the car but for pedestrians and other drivers on the road. Each drunken driving ad targets different audiences; some may target different age
All in all drunk driving is a vice that require to be addressed at the earliest opportune time. This is so because most of the fatal accidents are caused by driver driving under the influence. The worst art of it all is that this problem is preventable though it is the leading causes of loss of lives in our roads and destruction of properties. It requires all parties to exercise caution and restraint while on the roads but above all it is a matter of discipline which if addressed then it goes along way in saving the human race.
According to Wilson (2005), sleep deprivation can cause not only traffic accidents, but also medical conditions such as: obesity, type 2 diabetes, metabo...
Distracted driving: the practice of driving a motor vehicle while engaged in another activity. Anything besides focusing on the road can be considered distracted driving. Most people would think that the only real distraction while driving is the use of a cell phone, however, that is entirely untrue. There are people that give the term, distracted driving, a whole new meaning. People do everything from fixing their makeup to shaving while driving in their cars. Distracted driving is one of the leading causes of car crashes in the United States.
We as a society need to all take responsibility when we are on the road and avoid the many temptations and distractions surrounding us. Distracted driving is dangerous plain and simple. Some may be willing to take the risk because they have never had an accident while behind the wheel. But it’s
Drowsy drivers who feel like they’re able to drive should re-consider their judgment. Sometimes people feel like they’re able to drive under sleepy conditions but honestly they’re putting themselves and others on the road around them in serious danger. Drivers can prevent drowsiness by taking naps or drinking some kind of caffeine drinks. This can help promote awareness and can improve the safety of the driver driving and also other drivers on the road surrounding the driver.
Getting a driver’s license can be the most exciting part of a teens life. But what do teens have to do beforehand in order to obtain that license? For some, it's months of training and for others, they can complete everything within a few months. But does all that training make teens better drivers? The three main reasons why more drivers education for teens is not beneficial are: restrictions for teen drivers make it harder on parents, teens have to be able to get around without their parents, and not all teens need more drivers education.
If you drink and drive, you are not only a danger to yourself but also to your passenger, other road users and pedestrians. In fact, every 30 minutes, someone in this country dies in alcohol-related crash. Every 30 minutes! And last year alone more than one million people are injured in alcohol-related traffic crashes. Alcohol is a depressant that slows down body reactions and the working of the brain. Each year drunk driving is responsible for about 25% of these deaths. The risks of drinking are alcohol-related accidents and violence. The effects of alcohol are poor coordination and slurred speech, double vision, decrease of self-control loss of consciousness and death.
Lack of sleep may cause an accident. As you get drowsy, your reaction becomes slow as much as driving drunk.
The main distraction of driving is cell phones. Most adults and teens will engage in texting and driving. Due to the major issue of texting and driving many campaigns have been launched, one being launched by AT&T “when it comes to texting and driving, it can wait.” This campaign has many drivers take the pledge to no longer use their phone when driving, there is an available app that will send out automatic messages to anybody that sends a while the individual is driving. When someone is driving at the rate of 55 miles per hour for only 4.6 seconds, it will equal the length of a football field, 100 yards. So, even stopping full vision from the road for a few seconds will still risk serious danger. Another cause of distracted driving is being exhausted or tired, doing so will cause a much slower reaction time. The slower reaction time causes many of the accidents that happen when people are tired. Another possibility is falling asleep behind the wheel even for a few seconds you could drift, or swerv into another lane and hit another car causing a major or fatal car accident. When taking driving classes, the students within the class will hear the saying “stay alert, stay alive.” The final major distraction of driving is eating and drinking. One of the problems of eating and drinking while driving is that it causes both a visual and manual distraction. When removing your eyes from the road many dangers will be
