Bryan Bunch, editor of Scientific Publishing, claims that chlamydia “is the most common disease in the United States” (Bunch). Chlamydia is a sexually transmitted disease commonly found in people all over the world. It is estimated that around 2% of all Americans, including those who are not sexually active, have at least one sexually transmitted disease (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention). What it does is it allows the bacteria to grow to see if it is present. the test takes about a week to get results and must be done in a lab. Because it is time consuming, difficult, and expensive the test is not as popular as the nucleic acid amplification test. However chlamydia culture is a more accurate test (Healthwise). Once tested, those testing positive for chlamydia should take 100mg of Doxycycline orally twice a day (Drugs.com).
