Bruno Mars set the gold standard for music yet again with his new album “24K Magic,” released November 18th, 2016. This album features nine tracks with a mix of R&B, electronic, and pop sounds. It’s title track has been filling Mars’ fans with anticipation since early October. This is Mars’ third album and he believes that it has topped his first two.
As he was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, Mars’ was heavily influenced in his music by Michael Jackson, Prince, and Elvis. He, along with his five siblings, had a very musical upbringing and was exposed to many different genres of music at a young age. He learned how to play guitar in his teens and used it to write songs. When Mars moved to Los Angeles at age 17, he began to write songs
and sell them to popular artists. Mars decided to start recording his own songs and eventually made an album of his own. After releasing his first album, “Doo-Wops and Hooligans” in October 2010, he rose to fame due to hits such as “Just the Way You Are” and “Grenade,” song which continue to be covered in movies and listened to six years later. His sophomore album, “Unorthodox Jukebox,” contained chart-toppers such as “Locked Out of Heaven” and “Treasure.” After finishing his most recent tour, Mars began writing “24K Magic”. Although Mars’ first album has been my favorite since I discovered his music in 2011, “24K Magic” is really growing on me. It has a perfect balance of catchy lyrics and beats to dance to. “Finesse” sounds like it could be played at New York Fashion Week, and makes me feel like I’m walking the runway while I dance to it in my bedroom. “Perm” is a fun track, but the lyrics made me laugh a bit. In the first verse, Mars says “I bet you want an autograph/For you and your friends/Gotta do it in the penthouse/That's where I keep my pen” This album, in my opinion, is his best musically, but seems lyrically subpar to his past two albums.
His next album was a tribute too many of the influences in his life included several of his childhood

If you look into someone’s Spotify playlist, you’re sure to come across many different playlists full of different genres of music. Two artist you are evidently going to come across are Enrique Iglesias and The Strokes. These two are completely taking over the music industry. For Enrique Iglesias, mostly in Spanish/Pop while The Strokes, mostly in Rock/Indie. It doesn’t matter your personal preferences on music, you are bound to agree that The Strokes are the more genuine artists who bring music, and in particular indie rock, to another level with their heavy guitar beats.

Narrative: Michael Jackson was born and grew up in a strict working family in Gary, Indiana, USA on August 29, 1958. Jackson showed an early interest in music as did most of his family. His mother sang frequently, his father Joseph Jackson played guitar in a small-time R&B band, his older brothers often sang and played with their father’s guitar. Soon the family singing group started, with Michael as the main puppet and four of his older brothers. “After all it seemed to be the simplest way to earn money to feed so many kids said Joseph Jackson”. If you can't feed your kids teach them how to feed themselves. Anyway Michael soon outgrew his brothers with his unique talent not just for singing but for dancing as well. Jackson also influenced one of today's most popular music artists Bruno Mars who stated why he liked Michael Jackson so much:
"Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez's quiet withdraw in Stratford this weekend was shockingly disturbed by the undesirable vicinity of paparazzi," the announcement read. "This has deplorably brought about charges of perilous driving and ambush."
His first album ‘Doo-Wops & Hooligans’ is influenced by these genres. Bruno Mars is one of the best artists in history who has been able to recreate music and bring back ‘throwbacks’ while giving us today’s hits. For ‘Unorthodox Jukebox’, he won the ‘Best Pop Vocal Album’, and the ‘Juno Award for International Album of the Year’, which meant he became Billboard’s Artist of the Year for the success of his second album. Since then, the awards have tripled. Bruno Mars is better than your “average pop star” with a changing style of music.
