Ban Ki Moon is the eighth Secretary-General of the United Nations, whom has helped mobilize the world in an amazing variety of different ways. He is still a person who can continue to help our Earth be the best that it can be. From being born when Korea was in war, to now, to be one of the greatest leaders of the world, Ban Ki Moon is truly a significant person. Having a tough early life, it could’ve been nearly impossible for anyone to believe that Ban Ki Moon could turn out like this. Just days after North Korea tested a nuclear weapon, Ban Ki Moon was elected Secretary-General of the United Nations. He became the first Asian to serve as the Secretary-General. Ban Ki Moon was unanimously re-elected as the Secretary-General in 2011. He will continue to serve until the December of this year, 2016. In conclusion to having these occurrences, Ban Ki Moon had a fascinating history. Ban Ki Moon once said, “Personally, I do not know whether humankind is alone in this vast universe…. we should cherish our existence on this precious speck of matter... the greatest gift that could be bestowed upon us… there is only one planet Earth.” Starting as a poor child who had slim chances to survive, to his visit with John F.
