Every day that society ignores this repression and abuse that these women face is just another day that they suffer. These women deserve to have lives, jobs, and families. However, with the social stigma that is placed upon these women the likelihood of them getting the chance to live long successful lives is very low. These women are at the bottom of the LBGTQ community they suffer from mote homicides than any other group in this community. For example, a blog post written by Emily Wedick states "Transgender women of color represent one of the most targeted groups of violent hate crimes and homicide in America. 2016 was the deadliest year on record for transgender women in America, with 27 brutal murders on record, most women of color. Yet, nearly no one notices or acknowledges this repression these women face repression on all fronts. For example, they already face repression simply being people of color. An article written by Dottie Lebron states "Nationally, people of color are more likely to live in poverty than their White peers. While 11.6 percent of White Americans live in poverty, 25.8 percent of Black, 23.2 percent of Latino, and 27 percent of American Indian and Alaska Natives live in poverty." This statistic reveals that people of color are simply more likely to live in poverty just because they are people of color. Transgender women of color not only face the repression that people of color face they also have the burden of the repression and abuse that women and transgender people face. For example, a blog written by Amnesty International states "The UN estimates that approximately five thousand women are murdered each year as a result of honor killings, but many women's groups in the Middle East and Southwest Asia suspect the number is at least four times higher." This reveals the repression of women they are simply being killed just because of their gender. An example of repression that transgender people face is when the article written by Clarissa-Jan Lim states "The physical and sexual violence that transgender people face is unparalleled. These women deserve a new life. They deserve to be treated correctly and treated as humans, not people just judged based off of their gender identity. These women deserve more than the negative impact that society has had upon these women. Societal repression causes these women extreme harm. Societal repression negatively impacts these women's health in all aspects. They are judged and even sometimes assaulted by so called professionals in the health care field. These professionals who are supposed to healing these women and caring for them are instead assaulting and abusing them in their most vulnerable state. Societal repression also negatively impacts these women's mental health they suffer from major issues of depression and other mental illnesses. These mental illnesses have lasting effects on these women's lives. Many of them fall victim to crippling depression and attempt suicide or even sometimes succeed and wind up killing themselves.
