Journal Assignment: A slave aboard a slave ship with Olaudah Equiano I was in that place. I was a little black boy who is enslaved and silently keep losing hope. But I do not feel miserable anymore. Because I am alive in here as a strong-minded black man. I was in that place, in that ship. If someone ask me that have I ever been a living hell, then I would probably say yes. I was only 10 years old boy. I was living in West Africa with my mom. We were very poor. We just did anything if it makes even a little bit of money. My mom worked at someone’s house, and I did every outside work as possible as I can get. We barely chewed food to eat, but we were happy because I was with her and she was with me. We worked for some trade businesses and helped to carry things to send different places. We were on the African coast, and we were transporting to be sold as a product. During this six or seven month, we barely saw a food and ate. And because of that, many people got a disease, or slightly died out of a hunger. And my role was watching them dying gradually and agonizing by living pain or disease. When they were playing with the fishes which should have become our food, I really almost tried to kill all of them and jump into this African coast. But the reason I am alive, and I protected my moral was Olaudah Equiano. He was one of black men who was enslaved in this ship. He was just like the others, at the same time, He was different. He was only person who is able to see farther more than this miserable situation. He told me about a story of god. He said he will study more hard about the god, and save every human being alive in living hell. He had a will and he had an ambition. Even I saw something glowing in his eyes.
