Rene Descartes was born in the 1500s; 1596 to be exact. He was a French man who came from a wealthy family. For this time period, Descartes was a very well educated man. He was a Catholic man, who found interest in theology. People say he had the mind of a mathematician, but the heart of a theologian. At first, Descartes didn’t enjoy philosophy because it did not have a straight answer like math did. Although he died in 1650, Rene Descartes brought about many different questions within philosophy. Rene Descartes established many ideas inside his head including that, all knowledge comes from one’s senses. Although this is something he believed for a long time, he then stated, “I have noticed that the senses are deceptive; and it is …show more content…

Although his hypotheses are a little out there, no one is ever wrong in trying to accomplish their goals. In accomplishing his goals, he would need to figure out a way to validate his hypotheses one hundred percent, in order to make sure that they are true. For instance, he cannot start arguing that God is real, until he has the information to prove that he is one hundred percent correct. He needs to come up with different hypotheses that the evidence can be more easily attained and so he can prove them one hundred percent and his goals can be accomplished. That also goes for the evil genius hypothesis along with obtaining all of one’s knowledge from senses. He would have to work hard to obtain all of the information needed to prove that he is one hundred percent correct. Seeing as that is nearly impossible, Rene Descartes probably should have come up with some different hypotheses that were easier to prove than the hypotheses he had chosen. The ones that he has chosen, are too hard to prove one hundred percent, just like one cannot prove anything in a court room one hundred percent. His goals are not wrong. Even though his goals are a far stretch, everyone has goals that they probably will not be able to achieve. Rene Descartes had some extreme goals to say the least. He really wanted to prove them, but let’s be honest. The goals he had and accomplishing these goal was an extremely difficult task. Trying to prove that all knowledge was obtained from the senses, that an evil genius is controlling him, and that God is real are all very difficult things to prove. Do not get me wrong, I do believe in God myself, but I am kind of on the same boat as Descartes. I believe in God and have faith that he is real, but it was never proven to me that he is real. Science and the bible can really trick our minds, confuse us, and allow us to question his existence. The
