Section A:
The scene that impacted me the most was when Coach Boone took the team on a run. One morning, during camp coach took every team members for a run. After long run through rain and mud, they come to the place where there was a fight battle of Gettysburg. He described attitudes reflects leadership and hatred destroyed his family. Fighting among ourselves lead to destruction among family. He shows positive attitude by expressing his opinion about racism. He told them to stop the conflicts from racism and maintains peace and unity.

One of the example of discrimination in the movie is When all the players are on the lunch. Louie Lasik who is one of the players on the team. At lunch, he tries to sit with black players, but black guys didn’t like when Louie sit near with them. He was quickly criticized by one of the black guy. He ends up conversation saying he has no people they all are friends for him. After hearing from him, white guys look on with disgust. Later Louie Lasik talks about his roommate Rev who loves to preach when coach Boone calls him up in front to share something about another player in team. I like the way Louie show respect to all the black members in the team.
Discrimination: Treating people differently through prejudice: unfair treatment of one person or group, usually because of prejudice about race, ethnicity, age, religion, or gender.
I don’t support for discrimination. I have been witnessed discrimination in my life. My friend recently applies for job on hospital, though she was experienced she didn’t get job because they only hire white people. I was so sad when I heard from her. I feel everyone should be treated equally and give opportunity if they are capable of jobs. They should not be treated

Julius politely said hello to a white couple but they totally ignored him. They follow old fashioned discrimination. If Julius was a white male the woman would have stopped and said hello back.
At school, one of the black players Petey was talking to some white girls. When the white male friends of the girl saw this, they became angry and started to repeatedly hit Petey. When Bertier went to stop the fight, his white friends said to him looks like he makes animal friend. The white students were so discriminative they referred to the blacks as animals.
I was surprised how black student are referred as an animal. I have experienced a similar situation. I was not treated good at work because of my race.
As they changed their thought and feeling about black people, they come together in a team and respect each other. They come together and make it work every day. They respect each other and believes harnessing the mutual understanding into a team effort to achieve perfection. They decided to change the way they tackle, they win and realize football is about controlling the anger and to treat equally to everyone. At the beginning Blacky becomes aware of the apartheid of white and black first in the players at the local footy team, the white players (Goonyas) all got changed at one end of the club change rooms while the Aboriginal (Nunga) players got changed at the opposite end ?Usually the nungas got changed at one end us goonyas got changed at the other? pg. 21. The movie I decided to analyze was Remember the Titans. I examined the dilemmas and ethical choices that were displayed throughout the story. In the early 1970s, two schools in Alexandria Virginia integrate forming T.C. Williams High School. The Caucasian head coach of the Titans is replaced by an African American coach (Denzel Washington) from North Carolina, which causes a fury among white parents and students. Tensions arise quickly among the players and throughout the community when players of different races are forced together on the same football team. Coach Boone is a great example of a leader. He knows he faces a tough year of teaching his hated team. But, instead of listening to the hating town or administrators, Boone pushes his team to their limits and forces good relationships between players, regardless of race. His vision for the team involves getting the players concerned in what the team needs to become, and not what it is supposed to be; a waste. Boone is a convincing leader with a brutal, boot camp approach to coaching. He believes in making the players re-build themselves as a team. When Boone says, You will wear a jacket, shirt, and tie. If you don't have one buy one, can't afford one then borrow one from your old man, if you don't have an old man, then find a drunk, trade him for his. It showed that he was a handy Craftsman and wanted done what he wanted done no matter what it took.During training camp, Boone pairs black players with white players and instructs them to learn about each other. “Who was the most racist in that situation? Was it the white man who was too terrified to confront his black neighbors on their rudeness? Was it the black folks who abandoned their mattress on their curb? … Or was it all of us, black and white, passively revealing that, despite our surface friendliness, we didn’t really care about one another?” He never blames the black neighbors for their disregard of the mattress because their black, but sounds aware of the stereotyping and how he comes off addressing it. Professional sport heiress Christina Floyd was showing the film team around South Hampton which is considered the playground of the rich. One notable point in the movie is when they were touring the tennis courts and a person asked if a black man was a member. She replied that he was probably a pro, clearly defining that black people are not well accepted at the club. She even stated that the Jewish people she brought with her to lunch may not have been acceptable. Common beliefs of black families being more aggressive, having lesser moral values, and living less socially acceptable and lawful lives can be clearly seen through the actions of the white characters, and the thoughts that Chris expresses throughout the episode. The show uses satire to exaggerate black stereotypes to the point where it means the opposite of the comedic nature of which it was presented. The treatment and visualization of the lives of the black characters in the episode, through comedy and exaggeration, clearly shows the real-life problem of black stereotyping that is still all too present in American life. Chris’ everyday life as a black student in a white school and struggle to “fit in” is a struggle that non-white students have faced and are still facing today.

The people in this story go through a great transformation from hating each other to being as close as brothers but I do not feel that the end result is the most important part. These boys had very difficult decisions to make. I think that all these young men were raised to be racists to varying degrees. This graveyard moment was a very clear message that could not be misunderstood. They learned tolerance for those of their loved ones that couldn?t or wouldn?t learn as quickly as they did. If we are to ever overcome the misguided beliefs we gain from our parents we need a very good explanation of why we should believe another way. Discrimination has always been there between blacks and whites. Since the 1800s where racial issues and differences started flourishing till today, we can still find people of different colors treated unequally. “[R]acial differences are more in the mind than in the genes. Thus we conclude superiority and inferiority associated with racial differences are often socially constructed to satisfy the socio-political agenda of the dominant group”(Heewon Chang,Timothy Dodd;2001;1).
Discrimination is discrimination regardless of what type of form it takes. There is truly only one kind if discrimination and that is where an individual's rights are infringed upon due to traits in which they have no power to control. Each and every one of us deserves to have the right to freedom and equality given to us by our forefather's.
“Discrimination is the denial of opportunities and equal rights to individuals and groups because of prejudice or for other arbitrary reasons” (Schaefer 35). Discrimination differs from prejudice as it refers to the behavior or action usually based on prejudice rather than just thoughts.
Discrimination against people due to their color has always been recognized in the workforce and has been dealt with accordingly by the law. It used to be the most well-known form of discrimination within the workforce. Today most companies have begun stating that they adhere to the law of equal employment opportunities for everyone, but them stating it is completely different to them actually practicing what they preach. For example, there is one ethnic group who companies have begun discriminating against since the attack of 911 on the twin towers. Muslims have been singled out as the bad guys by many, thus they have been treated as such. There was a case in which Ali Aboubaker, 56, was bullied and discriminated against at work due to his religion, race, and most importantly appearance. He kept a long beard that was long and unkempt, which resembled those worn by men from Afghanistan. The company seemed to forget that Ali had four college degrees and only seemed to pay attention to his physical demeanor. Although it is now illegal to discriminate anyone based on one’s race or gender it is still a practice that many take part in, whether it is in the work place or prejudice that take place as part of who someone is. As the momentum started to pick up behind the equal rights movement of the mid-century an even a greater number of people began to be aware of the fact that there really is no difference between people and that all should be treated the same. As time has progressed so have the beliefs of people, things that were once a part of everyday life like children not being able to go to school together are a thing of the past. Discrimination is known to exist in all workplaces, sometimes it is too subtle to notice, and other times it is exceedingly obvious. It is known that everyone subconsciously discriminates, dependant on their own beliefs and environments that surround them. However, discrimination can be either positive or negative in their results, and sometimes discrimination is a necessary part of life.
