The Great Gatsby F. Scott Fitzgerald is a known author, he’s especially known for his book The Great Gatsby. The Great Gatsby is a wonderful literary work that is praised by many people, it is considered as a classic. The Great Gatsby has many themes through the book. The common themes throughout the Great Gatsby, when dealing with interactions between people, are love, deceit, and relationships. In the story of The Great Gatsby, there are relationships between many people. Nick Caraway is the person who happens to be in the middle of everyone’s relationship. There are good relationships and then there are bad relationships. The relationships among these characters is based off of love, deceit, lust, and jealousy. “Gatsby is an anxious disaster; he disappears, reappears at the front door in a puddle of water, knocks a clock off the mantel, and nervously fixes his wet hair (Gatsby forever).” Gatsby is so nervous that he can’t control his actions. Gatsby had loved Daisy since the time he met her, he remembers little details and dates that only a person who is so in love would remember, “ we haven’t met for many years said daisy… Five years in November,” was Gatsby’s answer (83). F.Scott Fitzgerald wrote about love in different ways, he used symbol to represents people’s love. “You always have a green light that burns all night at the end of your dock (87),” the green light represents Gatsby’s burning love for Daisy. At the end, when Gatsby loses his life the green light disappears, “Gatsby believed in the green light, the orgastic future that year by year recedes before us (154).” Gatsby believed in that light that represent love and hope, that light was on the end of Daisy’s dock, which represented his hope of her coming back into his life.
