The society and the individual have a strong and close relationship. It has been noted that an individual is formed and shaped in relation to the society in which he or she grows in. The society provides the individual with the necessities of life and it is the duty of the individual to use these necessities in the most reasonable way without exploitation. The society provides economic, political, cultural and social structures that help the individual carry out his or her daily duties effectively. The society allows the individual achieve his objectives and wishes that he could have not achieved alone. A society can be defined based on its political structure. The society provides an individual a choice on the kind of politics he is willing to engage in. The political structure within the society depends on the individuals understanding of politics and his will to engage in politics. The political structure defines the legal and the government system of the society. Statutory, customary and common laws arise because of the political structure. Therefore, through the society the individual is provided with a governing body that directs the society in the achievement of its objectives. The political structure within the society ensures that the individual has a well defined system of addressing issues related to the society. The governing body of the society addresses relationship between that particular society and the neighboring societies to ensure that the individual is protected from political attacks from neighboring societies or other antisocial behaviors. The political structure ensures that good neighboring relations are executed and maintained; hence this impacts positively on the individual in pursuit of his daily du... ... middle of paper ... ...ues to uphold and the norms to be shared for cohesiveness. Through the social structure, the individual interacts with rest of the members of the society and realizes he cannot achieve his desires all alone. The book ‘Ceremony’ and the film, ‘Into the wild’ present the relationship between the society and the individual in an incomplete manner because they do not present all the structures that form a society. ...clusion, Caitlin Tom’s essay Individuality vs. Fitting in, the American novel Little Women by Louisa Alcott, and the romantic yet empowering dramatic film Jane Eyre all exemplify the importance of a society pertaining individualism as it leads to overcoming societal barriers and stereotypes through recognition, it encourages individuals to bring about change through their unique individualism, and aids them in valuing the invoked change in relation to their individualist characteristics and traits. It is evident that individualism is very crucial for a society willing to maintain its civilization successfully. Thus, individualistic traits are the fuel which drive a society to its development and initiation through evolution. As a reminder, Individuals should use their unique individualistic traits and characteristics in order to help improve society as a whole.
Political society today, has taken many lessons from Plato and Aristotle’s political ideas. As was the case in Ancient Greece, there are many different political ideologies and regimes that will may serve the purpose for one society, but in another, could cause utter chaos. Aristotle attributed the need for there being a number of political regimes due to the fact that there are “many parts to a city.” (4.3.1) The many parts to a city that he was referring to, simply enforces the necessity of having different forms of office for each of these parts. Not every method will work for each society. Aristotle’s concepts of political regimes have deeply rooted itself in society today. In order to understand the concepts of regime as suggested by Aristotle, this paper will consider the three different types; royalty, aristocracy, and constitutional government, as well as each of their deviations.
From the beginning of formation of society its members are both taught the society’s norm and controlled by who had a power over them by using two different forms in which the government control is preserved. In other words, these norms and values create their identity and attitude of society’s members and under those values controlled their behavior.
Society is a result of our interactions, and society guides our interactions. This all stems from social construction. Social construction conveys values, ideas and traditions. These values, ideals and traditions are created and become traditions that are then passed on. These traditions then come to be perceived as natural rather than cultural, which is often how media will display it and society unknowingly accepts.
considered separately as causes of change in the society. He used the relationship between society and the individual to explain the causes of change in terms of social development.

Before taking this class, my understanding between each individual and the whole society is that every individuals as the gear are connected together to become a society like a machine. That is, human beings build the society. However, the class gave me bigger view of the relationship between the people and the society. Discussing about the relationship between me and the broader social world is based on how all human beings and the broader social world effect together. Thus, I am going to show my understanding from the class and reading about the interaction between each individual and the whole society.
Mills(1959), also wrote about public issues of social structure, referring to matters that go beyond the individual and look at society as a whole. How society is organised and how society works. This goes far beyond ‘the troubles of milieu, as it doesn’t look at the person and there individual experiences in society but looks at the wider social structure e.g social institutions… education, religion, family, law and how they have developed and interact with each other examples of the differenc...
Why is the concept of the rule of law an important aspect within society to have an integral understanding of? The rule of law is a facet of our society that affects and serves our lives on a daily basis because rules and laws dictate the underlying basis of our social interactions. One basic understanding of the idea of the rule of law is that society should be ruled by law, and not by men. At perhaps the most rudimentary level, the rule of law has been used to explain a type of governance that is founded upon universal and neutral rules. Endicott argues that communities can never adequately achieve the rule of law because “it requires, among other things, that government officials conform to the law. But they may not do so, and presumably there is no large community in which they always do so” (Endicott, 1999, p.1). Consequently, an area of rule of law is explored by Aristotle’s critique of Plato’s philosopher-rulers theory and his defence and understanding of the rule of law.
Social institutions are composed of many levels of building blocks just like a Lego house, from the smallest to biggest piece it's meant to fit its very purpose, from the micro to the macro. These building blocks come together to form the social structure. Social structure refers to the social patterns through which a society is organized. There are pieces to social structure that represent the social connections and the social and physical characteristics of where individuals are set on communities and social status due to the many blocks connected to what could be referred as social position, following these blocks to guide social position and status can cause social inequality, society classifies people or group in a hierarchy.

Institutions are put in place in society to help in peoples’ lives. Institutions make the nature of society be a place where the community can come together and help one another. Some institutions in everyday life include; school, church, work, teams, and clubs. An institution in my life back in high school was the Interact club. We came together every Thursday to talk about how we can help the community through volunteer work. Being in the club helped me realize that the little struggles in my life are nothing compared to the struggles others are facing on a daily basis. Some people in my society are stressed because they are worried about finding food for their families that week. The institutions, such as my club, helped many people like me realize that there is a problem in our society, and now we can figure out how to fix the problem and get everyone a better standard of living. Solidarity in a society makes the society a better place to be. When everyone in the society is in touch with their culture, everyone agrees with the culture and the norms, it makes the living environment much more enjoyable. As soon as one person goes away from solidarity in the society they are immediately labeled as an outsider and are shunned until they return to solidarity. This proves that being an individual in a society that wants conformity is not standard. Collective consciousness is when everyone in the society agrees with the beliefs that are put in place. Much like solidarity this helps make everything easier for everybody. Societies have certain sanctions put in place to make sure people abide by the collect conscious
Therefore, society evolves as an organism with various structures, which perform different distinct functions. Scholar Jennie McIntyre, who believes in this approach, addresses the society in the realms of important functions played by the distinct elements of the societal structures. The structures here include customs of a particular society, its traditions, the norms applicable in the society, and the institutions that surround a particular society (Kingsbury & Scanzoni,
“Many people want the government to protect the consumer. A much more urgent problem is to protect the consumer from the government”. Here Milton Friedman, American economist and a famous writer share his views about the society or government who is responsible for the protection of the people. Most of the people in this world are familiar with the word society. The term society describes a group of people as the members of certain communities for several events. We live in a society and without society we cannot develop our own individual behavior. In other words an ideal society can also be known as a perfect society which can provide basic needs to the people living within their respected communities. Different types of societies prevail in this world today. Some are religious, cultural, charitable, professional as well as economic. But there are advantages and disadvantages to these societies. For instance, being in a society will increase teamwork, cooperation, open to anyone, regardless of race, sex, religion and it is easy to form. On the other hand, it will limit your ability of working individually, problems arise when some families in the community fail to contribute money and the lack of secrecy since almost every matter is discussed openly in meetings. Authors such as Milton Friedman and Jane Jacobs describes about societies in detail and how it should be through their famous books, free to choose and the death and life of great American cities.
What is politics? Throughout history, people have participated in politics on many different levels. They may have participated through a direct democracy, in which they directly governed, or they may have participated through a representative democracy, in which they participated by electing representatives. As citizens’, people have participated in politics to attain the things they needed or wanted, the valued things. Participation in politics has been the way that people have a voice and change the things that directly affect their lives. Throughout the course of history, politics has been the competition of ideas; they decide who gets what, when, where and how.
