The purpose of this interview is to explore human service professional in their work environment, and observe human service professional in their particular settings, what type of education is required for their position of choice. The human services profession has a variety of populations that they serve; this is a wide array of people. Human service professionals serve populations such as, high-risk mothers who may have shortfalls in education, psychosocial, nutritional, and little or no transportation. Another is the homeless population, lack housing due to being unable to afford, or maintain safe and adequate housing. The elderly is a population that is increasing, there needs range from chronic illness, lack of or little education, mentally, financial, loss of independence, and stereotyping. They serve those diagnose with a chronic illnesses, such illnesses may be diagnoses of , high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, there is also the chronic mentally ill who are consider high risk, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, ADHD(attention deficit hyperactive disorder). The theory used for this case study was effective, because it was able to get P to recognise that change need to occur so the support that she received would be effective. Reflecting on action the outcome of the assessment and intervention that was applied to P’s case I used supervision and to discuss concerns I had regarding this family with my PS. Supervision helped me establish my concerns and areas I required further support in application to theory in evidence based practice ‘blind self’.
As I sat down with Jordan Fisher, on April 30th, we looked out the window to a gloomy, rainy day. It was wet and nasty day, but Jordan agreed to sit down with me to discuss his position as an HR officer. Jordan started with the Federal Government, 30 years ago at the age of 20. Now 50 Jordan is looking forward to retiring with his wife, stating “I enjoy it here, I really do—but I can’t wait to retire.” While Jordan plans to work for one more year before retiring, the knowledge and experience that he has gained from the position will never leave him. Jordan has been a very successful H.R. official because he has integrity, used effective communication and proper documentation.
I have felt drawn to support and strengthen the communities I am connected to for several years now. Although it took sometime to trace my passion for helping those in need, upon reflection I am able to clearly see a pattern of people, agencies and institutions that provided the additional support I needed to be successful. This support is the primary reason I have chosen the human services profession. From an early age I witnessed how social workers can help those struggling to find the resources they need to foster change.
