This lecture was very interesting, it opened up my mind to the direction I never thought of. Existentialism is the most complex subject of philosophy I have had learned about yet. Existentialism is the study of essence of life, self-knowledge, and discovery of our existence, exploring the meaning of our life.

Soren Kierkegaard was the founder Existentialism. Kierkegaard was suffering from severe depression throughout his entire life. This disorder he most likely genetically obtained from his father who was diagnosed with depression and melancholy. Needless to say, Kerrigan's illness had crucial effect on his philosophical views.

No one can explain to us or to oneself what the reality is, because it is rethorical, mystirical, and personal topic. Reality is different for each individual. By learning our inner self, we can discover the function of our existance. Self-knowledge is the answer, it is the paradox, the access to our reality. I think this is a genius theory, because we all live …… It like the ocean, we swim on the surface, we dont dive in deeper, because we have a fear to drown, smilarily we are afraid to look deep inside of our soul. We live on the upper layers that doesnt give us the answers who we realle are, our true self. We simly got used to live by the way of rules someone created and told us to, the stardards of our society, we dont know any other way, yet we have the abillity to find it. It is the natter of the desire, curiosity, and spirituality. We do not live like inviduals, we worry too much about what others think of us. We are afraid to be “different.” For this reason, also many people choose the wrong career options, I am myself changed my major many times. I didnt know what my passion is. Now, after all these ideas and philosophy, I learned to think deeper about my self and my purpose, therefore I realized what exacly I want to be. He inrtodused his theory of existantialism in twentieth century. Sartre believed that we think of ourselves as free, but in reality, we are not. We make choises in life, thus eluminate and reject other posibilities. Therefore, by doing so, we are escaping our freedom. Sartre presented his philosophe in his literature. One of the novel he wrote called Nausea. In this book Sartre describes his image of humanity. Sartre portrays his main character Roquentin’s suffer with preception of freedom. I think he was trying to refer this to the fear that people experience by becoming individuls, by making their own choices we are becominf hostages of our inner selves. We are affraid to make desicions on our own, because by doing so, we become responsible for our actions, therefore deal with consequences.
