1. Like Water For Chocolate was directed by Alfonso Arau and released in the year nineteen-ninety-two. The movie is based on Laura Esquivels 's novel 'Como Aqua Para Chocolate '. The movie is set in Mexico during the early nineteen hundreds. There are many influential characters in the movie such as Tita De La Garza, Madame Elena, and Pedro Murquiz. The movie is narrated by Tita 's great niece.

2. Tita, the youngest daughter of Madame Elena was hopelessly in love with Pedro Murquiz however, she is destined never to marry because of a family tradition. Throughout the movie, Tita and Pedro struggle to keep their relationship platonic. Afterall, Pedro is married to Tita 's sister Rosaura and if that wasn 't enough, there is an old family tradition that Mama Elena enforces to keep them apart. In a scene close to the beginning of the movie gives the audience a glimpse of how powerful their love is for one another. The scene starts with Pedro visually penetrating Tita 's body as she is serving food to guests. Tita feels his gazing eyes caressing her body and the narrator describes the feeling as “how raw dough must feel when it comes in contact with boiling oil.” She says “the heat that invaded Tita was so real... The climax comes after the ghost of Mama Elena pays Tita a visit and harasses her about Pedro. Mama Elena 's curse ignites the bonfire explosion that catches Pedro on fire and burns him. Pedro requests that Tita not leave his side. Rosaura feels helpless as she sees that the love between Tita and Pedro has never subsided. Rosaura confronts Tita about the relationship Pedro and her still have and insists that from now on she is to care for her Esperanza because she doesn 't want Tita to taint her with bad habits. Three days after Rosaura and Tita 's fight, Rosaura dies of digestive problems. For the wedding of Alex an Esperana, Tita once again has poured her soul into the food she has prepared.
