Organizational Analysis Experience The shadowing experience allows for an opportunity to observe a person within their professional position while witnessing the person in their natural environment. The person shadowing can apply knowledge learned to the actual study. In the organizational analysis experience, Mr. Joshua Bourgeois (personal communication, October 4, 2017) works for Children’s Medical Center Plano since July 2015 as the Senior Director of Nursing and Patient Family Services, the author will explore observations, reflections and communications as noted in the interview on October 4, 2017.

Bourgeois in this role as senior director of nursing left a positive impression in the qualities that a leader at this would possess in this position. The leadership in this role should be an effective communicator, strong interpersonal skills, collaborative skills and executive strategies. He exhibited many of these qualities in his interactions with both staff he managed and to upper management level as well. My leadership style is transformational leadership which is to inspire and motivate followers through interpersonal relationships (Sullivan, 2012). It is effective leadership with each team member working toward a common goal and not letting personal self-interest become the focus (Sullivan, 2012). My goal is to motivate the members to be accountable and focus on the goal of the organization and make a positive impact in the community. When the manager’s leadership interpersonal skills are effective, it impacts employees in a positive manner which leads to more productive team work and more positive work environment. For example, helping a team member with a difficult assignment or relieving them for a break. Transformational leaderships work towards a common goal, usually the mission of the hospital which seeks to serve its clients in a professional and compassionate manner which, therefore reinforces this type of leadership. It appears to be a position that works with nursing in many different facets and problem solve crisis which is very intriguing and enlightening. The position provides the opportunity to positive represent the company within the organization and in the community that it serves. At this time, my experience does not reflect the skills necessary to fulfill the position. The position requires a Masters of Science in Nursing, managerial experience, strong interpersonal skills and financial management. The Senior Director position has to construct a financial budget of staffing needs for the hospital, interpersonal skills with upper management and financial donors, present public speeches to the hospital, outside organizations and to the community. In order to develop the skills necessary for this position, I will need to stay on track with my plans to complete the Masters of Science in Nursing at UTA, gain managerial experience and become more active in public speaking engagements within the hospital and the
