LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION HIGHLIGHTS Describe yourself using three positive adjectives. I am creative, passionate, and outspoken. I have always channeled my creativity into problem-solving and project creation. For example, during my internship with Velvet Frame, I independently came up with the idea for a fellowship and designed a creative open-space structure for the fellowship in which flexible and dynamic action groups would be created organically based on student responses and groupings from a question. I also use my creativity to analyze problems and ideas from unorthodox or unique perspectives. For example, a recent debate topic centered around gun control. When I opposed gun control, instead of using traditional constitutional libertarian …show more content…
I participated in two internships, one with a social change & environmental consulting agency and one with the Orange County Human Relations Commission. For the former, I independently created a framework, curriculum, educational materials, and funding sources for an activist fellowship and helped run the blog. I also attended coaching sessions for social entrepreneurship and activism, including applying ecological principles to collective action & studying ecosystems as models for self-sustaining institutional structures. For the latter, I researched and analyzed implicit bias to create curriculum for implicit bias trainings for educators as part of the BRIDGES program, which addresses intergroup contact, bullying, and hate acts in Orange County schools. I also worked on my fellowship with the Sierra Club, working on creating educational materials about the intersection of reproductive justice & the environment. Additionally, I attended the Student Conservation and Climate Congress with the Green Schools Alliance and worked on my fellowship with them, studying student environmentalism. Along with all of that, I continued all of my projects from the school year-- working on my zine, planning my Take Back the Tap campaign, and planning Our Climate Story …show more content…
I snuck out of my house to attend the rally, which included an automobile procession and a march. While at first I was highly intimidated, by the end of the rally I felt more comfortable and realized how my fervor and passion for social and political change could be actualized. I met tons of inspirational, friendly, and welcoming people that showed me that working for social change is possible and made me consider careers in community and non-profit organizing. After this rally, I significantly increased my involvement in activism by starting to work on my Take Back the Tap campaign and searching for more opportunities to get
...was also heavily involved with the community. My intern group was involved in at least two volunteering events per month on average. We spent time volunteering our time with Feed My Starving Children, KPMG Family for Literacy (a KPMG sponsored volunteering effort to help kids struggling to read), and Habitat for Humanity.
Gardner describes the creative individual as follows: “The creative individual is a person who regularly solves problems, fashions products, or defines new questions in a domain in a way that is initially considered novel but that ultimately becomes accepted in a particular cultural setting” (Gardner, 1993, p. 35). As I understand this, a creative individual is one who seeks out problems and states or solves them in a way that no one else has previously. Such inno...

It’s important to employ individuals with creativity to keep fresh ideas and to manage projects effectively. This article was extremely informative, provided resources as to different personality and cognitive tests that should be used to assess the creativity of an individual and provides a guide for evaluating creativity in job candidates. An improvement to the research article would be samples of structured interview questions employers could use for assessment of job
What exactly is creativity? To be creative is to understand and connect the small details of our experiences, both good and bad (creative something). Creativity involves a person using his or her original ideas to create something. Artists such as poets, writers, painters, designers, and more use creativity on a regular basis. They use creativity to come up with new ideas and create original works of art. A poet would use his or her creative abilities to write and produce a poem just like a painter would use creativity to paint a painting.
I believe it is important for any student who wants to do their best in a class to take a moment to evaluate their own work to determine the rate their writing is progressing and how they can continue to advance their writing. When I looked through my own work I asked myself “what have I learned this semester?” and “what do I still need to learn in order to improve my writing?”. Answering both these questions will help me with my last step of my self-evaluation, developing a plan to learn new skills.
Creativity is a key component of success in later adulthood for problem-solving and cognitive abilities (Plucker, 2010).
From every member on the team who had a complaint in reference to the problem, I took the proper step in being creative and willing to think of a possible solution for the team’s problem. I was motivated by my inner drive in taking a leading role in creativity, while exploring alternative solutions that would be the most acceptable option. My personality also played an important role in enhancing my creative abilities. Some of the traits that define me are: independent, self-confident, and having an attraction to complexity. Being confident in myself in order to know that I can solve a complex problem independently allows me to grow as a person, and boosts my ego to continue to do better. Having the possession of highly creative cognitive skills was an asset in my high level of creativity. Addressing the problem at hand, allow me to logically think about the issue while identifying a feasible solution that could be successfully achieved for our
Anyone who takes the time to learn, and especially to acquire diverse knowledge, can express great creativity. As said by Vern Burkhardt, “The mythical views that we have about creativity and genius are almost impossible to reconcile with the scientific method” (Burkhardt). In other words, this quote is saying that no science is able to backup that creativity is linked to a higher IQ. So, all in all, anyone who applies themselves to a topic or field can be creative in that matter. You don 't have to be a registered genius to be
Our personalities are what distinguish us from each other beyond our appearance; without them, we would all behave and react in the same way. Personality is the reason we are outgoing or introverted, persistent or blaze, and anxious or calm. We each have different levels of these competing characteristics that make us unique. But why are personalities so varied? Personality is determined by an array of factors from genetic and biological to the personal experiences and decisions we have faced from the day we are born. The complexity of our personalities cannot be simply explained, and for this reason there exists many different theories of how it’s developed and personality is still deeply under study. I went into this subject with an open-mind
Well I guess I’ll start off this paper by being outright honest. I have never done this type of self-assessment exercise. So I’ll start this paper off with what exactly this type of self-assessment is. These types of self-assessments are meant to help show the individual (me) where my strengths lie and also where my weaknesses are as well so that I may try and lean on my strengths while improving on my own shortcomings. Essentially the Johari Window four regions model that we learned about is a great tool for this assessment. The first region is also known as the open area, which essentially means that this is what is known by the person about him/herself and is also know by others. The second region is known as the blind area in which this is information unknown by the individual but is known by others. Which could be behaviors that an individual does but does not realize that they are doing them. The third window is known as the hidden area. This area is essentially information that only you know about yourself and others do not. The fourth area is known as the unknown area. It’s known as that because this is information that you and others do not know about you. It’s when you take a look at these four areas and see your strengths and/or weaknesses are at and if you allow yourself to become open to feedback you then can improve on your own shortcomings and become a better leader.
Creativity is a way of bringing new idea into existence or to come out with a product through an imaginative skills or ability. With this, there must be a preexisting idea that will serve as a platform to act. All innovation begins with creative ideas. Creativity is the foundation of innovation.
A personal quality i have is the ability to improve myself whether it’s my tactics, attitude, point of view, behavior, skills, understanding. I struggle communicating the way I feel. I don’t know how to put it into words all the time. Another great quality I have is I love people I have so much love for everything I just want to help others it makes me feel good. SO back to the fact that I have a hard time describing my thoughts with words, I’m a visual learner. I’m great at communicating feelings and emotions using my body and my artistic abilities. I love studying different things I think that’s one of my biggest strengths as an actor, is that I love love love studying people and the way their minds work. It gets me excited. zI find it so fun improving myself.
Creativity is a key part in the entrepreneurial process. It is the ability to invent something new or change something (Webster, 1976). According to (Cromie, 2000), Creative people show some particular characteristics. They find problems very interesting and are not afraid of obstacles; rather, they try to find out the solution of those problems.
Characteristics a feature or quality belonging to a person, place or thing and serving to identify it. There are many personal characteristics that can define a person as an individual; some characteristics determined if a person is nice, disrespectful, intelligent, or not intelligent but it determines how a person interprets you. I believe that every individual has integrity as one of their characteristics, but my top three characteristics are Integrity, Compassion, and hard-working and for the person who carried me throughout my whole life “my brother” his characteristics would be his responsibility.
