Transition is changing one’s original belief and intrinsic attitude. It is caused by people’s developed sense of autonomy, which helps people to distinguish right from wrong and realize their shortcomings and weaknesses. It leads people to make a change on themselves in order to accomplish their pursuit of a better self. Therefore, once I thought a pretty appearance is the most important thing for people to achieve their dreams and goals, now I believe that even though good look is important, inner beauty and capability are more necessary for a person to become a better one.
Once I thought that people’s appearance is very important; even though as the saying goes, “Don’t judge a person by his appearance”. It means capability is more important

One day, my mom had a deep conversation with me. After that, she told, “You can’t just stay at home and do nothing forever. You have to go outside and see the world. You should face problems, difficulties and other 's opinions. You need to make a decision for your future, because dad and I can’t help you forever.” Finally, I decided to find a job. I didn’t have any experience before, so I started looking for some easy jobs in bubble tea stores. But they always said to me that I didn 't meet the requirements; I knew it was because of my appearance and I felt depressed and discouraged. I had no confidence and I was afraid to interview. Therefore, I just stayed at home and sent my resume. As you can imagine, I didn’t get any …show more content…
If we want someone to respect and appreciate us, we should respect and appreciate ourselves first. We should accept what we have now, and then decide to change what we don’t like. Everyone is unique in this world. Your entire good and bad make the real you and you can’t find a second person like you in this world. But I still think appearance and looks are important because beauty is powerful. No matter how much we argue against it or pretend to be immune, beauty exerts its power over us. When you look better, you’ll get more attention, and you’ll be more confident and attractive. A good appearance also brings you more chances. So I went to see the dermatologist and removed my mole. I changed my hairstyle and don’t want to hide anything. I have more friends and suitors, and I chose one as my boyfriend. I become more confident and easy to get well with others. I do well in my job and patients and my coworkers like me very well. Since our doctor is very famous in this area, I learned a lot in this clinic, not only the knowledge about medical, but also the lesson of life. I learned that confidence makes people more beautiful. When you help others, you will feel very happy as well.
Now I’m not afraid to communicate with others. I use my passion to help patients, and they all appreciate my help. It makes me feel that I’m valuable. A woman should have not only external
When we feel the need to change outward appearance we need to be concerned and aware of how those changes effect the person we are within as we are about appearance. External beauty is not as attractive if the person inside is not the type of person we would want to be with. Appearance can be initially blinding and deceptive. When you being to look beyond the outer layers of appearance and into the character of the person you are relating to you can quickly find the beauty alone is not enough to sustain a meaningful relationship. Beauty can fade and appearance change as we grow older but who we are at the core should remain constant or improve with age and wisdom. Kit Reed’s story shows the high cost of how focusing only on your outer appearance to the detriment of the person you are can
Sure, some of us have this great confidence within ourselves about looking great, but that does not hold true for everyone. I understand the pain or disgust, or even disappointment one feels when they look in the mirror and say, “I wish I could change this or that about myself”. Although this piece is written about the author’s life, it holds meaning and connects with for many people; one only has to dig deep enough to find one. For me, it was to realize what is important in life can change, adapt and that we must explore our inner selves and find our own path in life.
A transition can mean a lot of things. One of the more known transitions is the boy becoming a man idea. One example I thought of that expressed this well was the one I read in “Proofs” by Richard Rodriguez, about the young boys who risked their lives to come across the border. Rodriguez stated, “You are a boy from a Mexican Village. You have come into the country on your knee with your head down. You are a man” (34). This is just one example, but there are all kinds of transitions an individual goes through in their life. One transition can be as simple as getting older and maturing. Another can be changing your views or your beliefs. You can also make a transition by turning into a totally different person like Joaquin Andieta and Jacob Todd did in the novel.
In the realm of work the appearance of someone’s body has a significant impact on their success according to Lorber and Yancey. In the text it was emphasized how height is idealized in the work world because it shows authority and being superior to peers and competition. Weight, height, race and jaw shape all are characteristics that have been observed to play a particular role in decision-making for leaders, e.g. the men with looks far from ideal had rarely moved up in military status in comparison to those with more idealized looks (253).
Looks cannot inform anyone of what a person feels or is capable of. In an article about a woman on a talent show, the audience laughed at the contestant when she stated that she wanted to be a professional singer, without hearing her sing. Following the rude outburst of laughter she confidently continued, “When she began to sing, their expectations and their judgments were proven to be completely wrong. Not only could she sing, but she proved herself to be an extraordinarily talented person in a quite ordinary body.” (Sanchez, P3) This 47 year old women proved to a lot of people that a person must discover and respect people’s qualities before judging them, because they may be
“Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart” (Kahlil). People focus more on the outward appearance instead of the inward appearance. One’s inward appearance is comprised of their character, values, morals, and the true nature of their heart. On the other hand, the outward appearance is composed of one’s dress and grooming. The inward and outward appearance determines whether or not a person is ugly or beautiful. The choices that we make also define whether or not one is ugly or beautiful; choices made in the past can sometimes be repeated in the future.
Often, there is a disconnection between the self whom we present to the world and our “true” self. Some people try to blur the line between the person they are in the inside and the person they present to others. They try to rub out their imperfections and use plastic surgery to try to become that person they think they really are. However, plastic surgery does not change one`s “true” self.
...t the insecurities and to loving ourselves just the way we are. Once we learn to adapt that peoples judgments shouldn’t affect our life, this will automatically make our lives a positive and worthwhile place.

There is a famous saying that states, “ we should not judge a book by its cover”, but oftentimes the first thing noticed on a person is their looks. One’s “physical beauty” strongly influences people’s first impressions of them. As a whole, we tend to assume that pretty people are more likeable and better people than those who are unattractive. Around the world, we believe that what is beautiful is good. There is a general consensus within a culture about what is considered physically appealing and beautiful. “Physical beauty” is associated with being more sociable, intelligent, and even socially skilled. Society shares this common notion of who has and who does not have “physical beauty”. Thus, “physical beauty”, as seen

... if we give appearance and look the importance they do not deserve. In today’s world, children kill themselves, celebrities use drugs, people fake personality because they think that they don’t fit the standard and they don’t want to be judged and view based on the way they look and who they are. We are all different so to enjoy each other differences and learn from one another, we should take away those imaginary standards and live by each other free and confident.
Flipping through the pages of Vogue's latest edition, 23 year-old Susan seems quite upset. She struggles with the thought of lacking the perfect body and delicate features in order to be considered attractive. Surprisingly, Susan is not alone in this kind of an internal struggle. In contemporary society, every other woman aspires to have the lips of Angelina Jolie and the perfect jaw line of Keira Knightley. Society today looks down upon individuals that do not fit in, whether in terms of body shape or facial attractiveness. This forces them to consider the option of 'ordering beauty.' Since cosmetic surgery is no longer a social taboo in America given its widespread popularity, more people are promoting it which ultimately affects the rest of the world due to the unwavering influence of American culture. Cosmetic surgery should be deterred in the US because it promotes the idea of valuing appearance over ability, gives rise to unrealistic expectations, and brings with it high cost to society.
Our physical appearance counts all the time. It reflects who we are, how we carry ourselves, and how we represent the company we work for. All employers look for someone with a favorable appearance that sets a person to be competent, professional, and confident that will make an impact to their company. Either way we are judged by how we physically appear. Good appearance makes a person stand out among others especially when applying for a job. Besides having all the skills needed for the job, professional appearance helps a person to be noticed and recognized by employers. Physical appearance is also a factor of how a person feels about himself. Good appearance boosts self-confidence. It attracts positive energy which helps a person express oneself and makes others pay more attention to you.
