Rebuilding is a point at which something is built again, after being destroyed. There are many different types of rebuilding that can be used today. For example, people that go through harsh experiences may have to go to intense therapy to cope with their memories. Another example of rebuilding is having to go to physical therapy or wearing a cast after breaking a bone. Both of these are clear examples of rebuilding, and not one is more important than another. After a genocide, rebuilding is required. Many people, like survivors, need to clear PTSD, while others have to fix physical injuries. After a genocide, people experience illnesses such as, PTSD and trauma from the event. This is because all of the survivors are so scarred from what has happened. Many people had to go to therapy after a genocide. This was specifically hard for people after the Rwandan genocides because there were very few therapists left in their country after the mass murder. (Woman by Woman: Reconciliation and Reconstruction in Rwanda) Tabatha Yeatts explains that so many people did not like talking about their experience. Some felt guilty for not helping as much as they could, while others like Fela Drybus, a Holocaust survivor, couldn't see how anyone would understand what she went through (Yeatts). Primo Levi, a Holocaust survivor, committed suicide after the genocide. After the genocide, mental rebuilding was just as important as physical rebuilding to prevent things like suicide and depression from happening. After a genocide, there are still so many deaths from trauma and anxiety that were not part of the mass murder. Trauma ruins people's lives and made the rebuilding process much harder for victims. Mental states like these stopped many people from living normally or happily again. In summary, curing anxiety and trauma disorders was just as important as finding jobs or family during rebuilding because survivors’ mental states can change the way they think and live the rest of their
