With the start of a new generation, companies tend to think of it as a fresh start and a way to redefine platforms, brands and characters. Sony Computer Entertainment America saw fit to bring back one of the most beloved franchises in the history of PlayStation and give it a full PS4 makeover. Ratchet & Clank for the PS4 is an epic, hilarious, stunning and entertaining blast from the past, and hopefully this is but a taste of what has yet to come for the franchise. It has been a few years since we 've seen Ratchet & Clank, but more precisely, it has been close to 14 years since we saw its debut iteration. However, there is no specific XP system for upgrading your melee attacks like there are for your weapons. Ratchet & Clank does a fine job of making gamers think about their actions and how they carry them out. You can make the choice to use melee attacks over weapons, but you will find yourself with lower-grade weapons and as you get further along in the game, maxed out weapons, from an XP standpoint, become far more useful than your melee attacks. My strategy was to use the same weapons, ammo-pending of course, until I maxed out their individual progression and then I would move onto my next weapon of choice for XP purposes. It 's not a true Ratchet & Clank game if we don 't talk about its goofy and diverse cast of characters. One of the things I love most about this game, and have loved most about the series, is how self-aware it is, not that the franchise hasn 't been. Cutscenes are, at times, rolling on the floor laugh-worthy and from ironic humor, to cliché humor; Ratchet & Clank is filled with hilarity, light-heartedness and genuine moments. This is Insomniac 's wheelhouse and Ratchet & Clank is the perfect playground for not taking themselves too
