Kids in Low-Income homes have a dropout rate of 10%(Dropout Statistics). The higher the income in the family the lower the that percent gets. The minimum wage is a long talked about topic, though not very much has been done about it. Many still believe that raising it will help our economy and keep people from resorting to unwanted measures to keep their kids in school and food on the table. Although some think that raising the minimum wage will hurt more than it will help, it should still be raised because,its not enough to support a family or a couple, it would bring many out of poverty, and raising it would bring the rate of crime down. Our country is based on greed and war, and we shun the people that aren’t like us. We blame the poor for our problems, the full prisons, and keeping us from being the great country everyone wants. We can’t blame the poor, if we aren’t doing anything to help them. They find there own ways to support their family. Raising the minimum wage will bring many out of poverty, it will create a domino effect. Raising the wage, will affect 332,600 people in just iowa alone, millions across the entire United States(State Minimum Wages). reducing the amount of people in poverty by increasing the amount the people in poverty make while working. Living in run down houses or “shady” neighborhoods because you can’t afford any other house or apartment. People under the age of 20 may be paid 4.25 for the first 90 days of employment (State Minimum Wage). When the wage is raised hopefully will the 90 day minimum wage. With our country pointing finger at everyone but ourselves we find that would rather blame others for our lack of compassion. the people of our “great” nation need to realize the starving, poor, and the hurt of our own
