RAHR AND SONS BREWING COMPANY
Company information
The Rahr and Sons Brewing Company based in Fort Worth, Texas in USA was established in 2004 by Fredrick Rahr. Rahr studied brewing in Texas Christian University and later worked with a railroad company after which he built his own brewing company with the help of his family and friends. Rahr’s wife Erin was a great influence to Rahr’s decision to carry on with beer brewing which was a family tradition. The company initially began production on small scale and its products were not bottled. Jason Courtney was the head brewer at that time. He came up with most of the initial resumes that were being used in production. He preceded James Hudec who held the same position for six months. At first, the company was in-charge of distribution of its products. Rahr kicked off his brewing business with two brands, the Rahr Red amber lager, which was named after himand the ‘Blonde Lager’. A third beer followed these in December, 2004. It was bottled in July 2005.

This happened during spring. Summertime Wheat followed bucking Bock in July and later, Winter Warmer in November. Winter Warmer was the only non-German beer that Rahr had produced by then. For the short period of time that the Rahr and Sons Brewing Company has been in business, it has managed to divide its products such that various brands sell during specific times of the year. The company has beer that sell all round the year such as Rahr’s Blonde Lager and seasonal beers such as Iron
The two organizations explained in this assignment are “Anheuser Busch” and “MOLSON Coors”. Anheuser Busch is a multinational company brewing more than 100 brands in the United States and holds a 45.8 percent of the beer market share1. The company is recognized as the No. 1 brewing company by Fortune magazine – “World’s Most Admired Company”2. Dreaming Big, Unity and Culture are the three main driving values and guiding principles which account for the success the company has achieved during the years1. All these combined with the dedication and motivation
The beer brands were classified as popular, premium, super premium, and ultra-premium. The distinguishing factor determining if brands belonged to different classes was whether beer was produced by four largest companies (Anheuser-...
This report addresses the issue of whether Amsterdam Brewery should invest and promote new products or continue to focus on current products. And, whether Jeff Carefoote should pay attention to whole brands or spent expense to increase brewing capacity. The report describes a strategic plan to ensure Amsterdam Brewery’s competitiveness in the market.
Understanding the process of brewing will help explain the time limitations of brewing and storing beer, and will ultimately help explain how this tug of war came into existence, as the process of brewing itself is largely responsible for the limited availability of beer early in American history. The process begins with malted barley which is heated to, and held at, a temperature between 60o and 71o C. This process is known as mashing and serves to activate the amylase enzymes which convert the complex starches into fermentable and unfermentable sugars. The wort is then transferred to a boil kettle where hops are introduced and the liquid is boiled extensively to isomerize the bittering oils in the hops. In their isomerized states, these oils will be more soluble and able to impart their bittering qualities into the wort. Finally the wort is chilled as it is transferred into a fermenter and yeast is added to begin the fermentation. The fermenter is sealed from the environment to prevent oxygen, which would stop fermentation, from entering. Fermentation must then be carried out at cool temperatures – about 18o C when using ale yeast and much colder when using lager yeast. Fermentation above these temperatures will still occur but yields an unpalatable product. These temperature requirements made beer a seasonal beverage and limited storage prior to the advent of mechanical refrigeration.
Strives to be the leader in micro brewing while maintaining the core values it started with and had employee buy in even before it went” 100 % employee owned in2013” (Gorski, 2013).
In recent years Anheuser-Busch has faced increased competition in the U.S. market. As a result of this increased competition the company has been looking overseas for growth and increased profits. The American market is a relatively stagnant market for Anheuser-Busch. There is very little growth in America and 94% of Anheuser-Busch’s sales occur inside America (Anheuser-Busch, 1999). Anheuser-Busch also has the resources to compete with any European brew in the European market. In many countries in Europe, Anheuser-Busch has begun to gain some market share and turn some profits. The Amer...
Red Bull owner Dietrich Mateschitz commented, "The most dangerous thing for a brand is low interest." (Gschwandtner) Red Bull is currently available in over 165 countries, resulting in over 35 billion cans sold. (Red Bull) While many companies try to push their products on consumers, Mateschitz decided to take a more personal approach towards attracting consumers and influencing them to make his product stand out and become their first choice. Red Bull's owner states that most of its success came from bringing consumers to the product rather than the other way around. (Gschwandtner) With events in the industries of sport, music, art, technology and adventure, there is little the company does that is not interesting to just about everyone.
Under what conditions might the parties to the alliance discussed in this case dissolve or end the relationship?
Our study is based on Molson Inc. whose founder John Molson opened his first brewery in Montreal, as seen here.
Adolphus Busch was a salesman, and perhaps the greatest ever heard of in America. Granted that he knew good beer and ever sought after it, the fact remains that he did not know how to make it at all. In the same course of time he found men who did, but that was a mere detail. He sold the bad almost as efficiently as he sold the good. He could have sold anything. At one point in the early career of Anheuser Busch, its product was so inferior that St. Louis rowdies were known to project mouthfuls of it back over the bar. Adolphus kept on selling it, and it became better, and eventually the best in America.
The Brewing Process Beer is an industrial product. A brewery is literally a beer factory in which the brewer takes advantage of and manipulates natural processes to create the perfect growth medium for yeast. On the surface the brewing process is simple. But it you look a little deeper you find that there is a complex set of chemical reactions at work in the creation of beer.

This case examines issues of asset control for Ben & Jerry’s Homemade, Inc., in light of the outstanding takeover offers by Chartwell Investments, Dreyer‘s Grand, Unilever, and Meadowbrook Lane Capital in January 2000.
The larger serving size of Great Cups of Coffee is perhaps the most apparent gage that will improve appeal for the company’s customers. Receiving extra of a proportionately quality product for a comparable price obviously works as an enticement for customers to prefer Great Cups more than the opposition. While customers identify with a better quality and superior taste with fresher coffee, Great Cups supports its effective model of serving coffee that has been roasted no more 72 hours ago and that is blended and ground right at the store. Great Cups also provides as an unintended marketing method community bulletin boards and assists with book club gatherings as well as
Breckenridge Brewery has a strong business in brewing beer. Due to the lack of professional management expertise and venturing into the wrong business, the company has not been able to turn in a profit. It is important that the company try to resolve these problems as soon as possible. Only then, will the company get out of the red and hopefully, move on to a higher level.
