Multiculturalism is an effort to promote diversity but actually alienates minorities and often leads to more stereotypes, racism. This can be seen in today's world through the story Americanah, my personal experiences and the national football league. For example, while reading the story Americanah by Chimamanda Adichie it was very obvious to Ifemelu that African Americans were being isolated in her community. As Ifemelu travels into areas of less wealth she develops a realization that the demographics on the train have changed. Traveling into Brooklyn meant more presence of African American than whites. In manhattan, the train contained almost a unanimous amount of whites with very few African American. “Aunty Uju in Flatlands, she was struck by how mostly slim white people got off at the stops in Manhattan and, as the train went further into Brooklyn, the people left were mostly black and fat” (11).The train is seen as a form of public of transportation and there should be no forms …show more content…

The motivation for this movement was the recent acts of police brutality and the desire for racial equality.The movement led throughout other players to be inspired by his message and even to other sports across the country. With a controversial issue, like racial equality, there was a disconnect among NFL teams. African Americans blamed the white players on their team for not kneeling and criticised their beliefs. On the other hand some white players and some of the general public criticized the African Americans and said they were being disrespectful to the military. The NFL is a multicultural organization that has a variety of racial groups within it and this movement separated the whites and blacks within the league and also within individual teams.
