This research paper focuses on the linkages between race and crime in Canada. It strives to answer why individuals of lower class or racial minorities are overrepresented in the criminal justice system. It suggests that there are biases within the correctional system formed against racial minorities and lower social class citizens which lead to mass incarnation. The biases associated are drug trafficking, drug possession, and sever violence. Therefor concluded that the overrepresentation of minorities in Canadas crime statistics are not a result of increased criminal behavior but a culmination of discrimination within Canadas justice system.

The groups of lower social class are populated mostly by racial minorities. Race; even in today’s multicultural society has proved by these studies to be one of the strongest predictors of crime. An increase in incarceration was believed to have reduced crime; in which it might of, but was directed to poor, minority communities. Another key finding these researchers have developed is that the criminal justice system has failed to provide research into the representation of the incarcerated population, which could in all disprove any connections between race and crime. This finding itself serves as a base to believe there is a over representation of lower class citizens within the criminal justice system. Policing uses strategic methods to target poor, urban areas which creates havoc among citizens. Crime occurs anywhere, weather it is in a rich neighborhood or the projects. This includes providing education amongst all minority groups, providing the necessity of conventional housing and increased job opportunities. This can be accomplished through government funding and community support. Communities can fund programs to aid the process of diminishing criminal activity among minority groups.
