Quality Caring in Nursing & Health Systems
Health care system is rapidly evolving nowadays and this evolution stimulates the nursing profession to look into the quality of its services with a systematic approach. Studies have shown that a very strong bond exist between professional nursing and outcomes of quality health. Nursing services are provided across many settings and are accountable for majority of health related activities seen in hospitals, clinics, and nursing homes as well as in private homes and schools.
The role of the nurse in this model is to maintain caring relationships which include caring for self, caring for patients and caregivers, and caring for community. It is true that we need to love, respect, care for ourselves and treat ourselves with dignity before we can respect, love and care for others and treat them with dignity, therefore Quality caring model emphasizes caring for self as being a necessary component. The target of this model is to be more aware of mindfulness techniques and teaches how to cope up reflectively with the daily basis situations of patients and their families. And for this each caring factor of the model independently explains the concept of caring. Mutual problem solving factor is on the top of the list and it describes nursing behavior that help patients and caregivers understand how to face, learn and think about their health and illness. Second one is an Attentive reassurance in which the patient feels that they can rely on nurse. In other words they feel a sense of security. Encouraging manner is another factor which includes positive thoughts and messages of support.
