The age group that I am choosing to work with is four to five year olds. The aspect that I like and find most useful about Piaget’s theory is children are discovery learners. His idea of children learn best through doing and actively exploring rings true to me (McLeod, 2015). I find that four and five year olds learn best through what they experience. They learn faster be doing instead of just listening. They learn a lot through play and social interaction. They learn critical thinking and problem solving as well as enhancing their communication skills. This information will be helpful to me when I think of sitting in group too long. In a group setting you introduce the children to what the day will consist of and what they will be learning

I will be sentencing Andrew Medina as a youth. The Charges I will be giving Andrew Medina is Intensive Rehabilitation Custody and Supervision for 3 years, Intensive Support and Supervision Program for 3 years, Probation for 1 year and 100 hours of community service within one year. I believe after he finishes these charges he will be reintegrate and rehabilitated. During Andrews time at Intensive Rehabilitation Custody and Supervision he will be taking regular classes as if he is a normal child to help him rehabilitate. After he is done his time in Custody he will go on to do Intensive Support and Supervision Program for 3 years to help him. He will talk to his Supervisor every other day for a month and then get less and less time with him
Working with children in a group can show the practitioner what each child knows and learns from different activities, each child is different with their development, although children can help each other learn new and different things from working within a group.
Educators produce a wide variety of experiences, perceptions, prospects, learning and abilities to their education (DEEWR, 2009, p. 9). In my career and through my studies, my philosophy and pedagogy have been closely linked with the constructivist theory from Piaget. Being able to focus on a child’s interests and creating learning activities that are implemented as fun is a big part of my motivation as an educator and teacher. The educational environment needs to sustain every single child along with inspiring significant work that can result in more advanced thinking (Evanshen and Faulk, 2011, p. 225). Children tend to learn more when they know why what they are learning is important and if that material is presented in an interesting way. Take for example a preschool teacher who needs to teach her class about the different shapes. Instead of just showing her students a poster with the different shapes on it, she has her students get out of their seats and begin exploring the classroom for differently shaped objects. Once they have found some objects, have them share with the class what the object is and what shape it is. I feel that students should be able to explore the world around them and learn from hands on activities. This type of learning style goes along with both Piaget and Vygotsky’s theories on learning. My theory leans more closely to Vygotsky’s theory due to the fact that I believe that the “play and exploration” should be structured and directed so that as a teacher I can help to guide the information that the students are learning.
