How might someone put an end to mass hysteria in a situation like the one that unfolds in “The Crucible?” Someone could put an end to the mass hysteria in “The Crucible" by speaking up against the hysteria and being influenced by the community that resides there. If he had spoken out more forcefully against the trials. As well as could have given more evidence to prove the innocence of those accused. He could have also stopped the hysteria if he had revealed and told the truth about Abigail and the girls playing sport in the woods and their actions had nothing to do with witchcraft whatsoever. Where they only care about their own wants and needs. A closer examination reveals that while it is true, John Proctor only cared about his reputation and wife. It is true that Abigail Williams only cared about getting the man she loves and would do anything to win his heart, even if it meant hurting others. However, upon deeper analysis, it becomes evident that while they did care about these things the most, the truth is that John Proctor wanted to not only save his wife but also the people he called friends.
