Gaganpal Sidhu During the examination of literature, there are certain aspects of written text that an author can dictate in order to allow readers to visualize and depict the meaning that is derived from the original text. Literature, throughout history, has been created to convey certain elements and provide a fictional or non-fictional image for readers to engage, understand, and create their own meaning from certain aspects that the world is aware of. Reasoning or purpose is the backbone and support of all literature content. Text always serves a meaning or point, whether to convince, to tell, or to amuse. It is really important to create a well flowing structure, because it shows the literary work in a particular order. For example where ideas and story’s originate and how they continue on from there. In My Life by Magic Johnson, Magic reflects on his earlier days when he first started playing basketball and how he fell in love with the game for the first time. This type of text, which is an autobiography focuses on certain events that made Magic the player he was and in what way he had to put down his jersey. Magic tells his story in first person, so that a purpose is initiated and a different perspective is portrayed. If Magic’s story was written in a biography format, Magic’s views from the success and downfall would not be an important part of the text. “When you face a crisis you find out who your true friends are.” Magic’s purpose of being positive and optimistic would have not been properly represented with such insight as it did in first person context, from his perspective. Magic’s tough demeanor and optimistic behavior would have not been properly displayed if it was spoken or narrated by someone
