Have you ever wanted a puppy from a place called a puppy mill? I bet you thought it was a nice place where they take care of the puppies. I bet you thought it was a place where they give the dogs homes and when they run out of puppies they breed more in the spring . It isn´t a nice place for puppies and puppy mills should not be legal. Have you ever gone to a circus that has animals? Have you ever thought that those animals are having a good time performing for you? I’m here to tell you the truth of it all.
I'm an owner of a dog, a cat and a few other animals and when I heard the truth about what happens to some of these animals I was astonished. Let me tell you a little bit about puppy mills. Puppy mills breed too many dogs, and I'm sad to

The first problem I found was Puppy Mills. Puppy Mills force dogs to breed and have puppies. If the mother dog can’t have puppies or can’t have any more puppies the humans think, “Oh this dog is useless” and they kill it. Because they force dogs to breed and dogs should only breed when they are ready, some puppies are born without a leg or maybe sometimes without eyes. I Don't think that's right because animals have their own things to do too. Dogs care for their young and so do cats, dogs give you love and care almost no matter what you do. We as humans and fellow animals should care for animals because they care for you. This is a huge world and we should share it with the rest of the animals. I also researched some more and I found another website: https://discoverer.prod.sirs.com/discoweb/disco/do/article?urn=urn%3Asirs%3AUS%3BARTICLE%3BART%3B0000155017. It shows the myths and then the truth about those myths here is an example of what they had to say: MYTH: Circuses teach children to enjoy animals. FACT: Children learn that forcing wild animals to do what we want is acceptable. They learn that it is permissible to reduce and degrade animals to the level of mere puppets that will do foolish tricks for our entertainment. They are teaching little kids to abuse animals and not help to save them from the people that do that kind of stuff. Even though I can’t change a whole lot I hope this …show more content…
Let's start with puppy mills, puppy mIlls don't give dogs food or water and they make them sleep in wired cages which hurt their legs, and their paws. You could give puppy mills food for the dogs and water and some nice dog beds, then the dogs could eat, sleep, and drink some water. Also, you could adopt one and take it to a vet and make sure it doesn’t have a sickness or an infection. Let’s move on to the circus. Ok so, first you could write a law kinda thing that says something like this, “ No circuses if animals trained to be in the show.” Get kids from your school and other places and other people to sign it and present it to your government or mayor in your area and try to make that a rule where you live so no animals will be abused. Also you could boycott circuses and tell your friends to do the same because if people stop going to the circuses that abuse animals then they will be out of business. Tell your friends to go to the circuses that don't have animals, but if they say, “I wanted to go see a lion or a tiger.” Say to go to a zoo because they take care of animals and you get to see them up close! It will be way better because the zookeepers make it look like their habitat and the animals are acting like themselves. These reasons are only a few ways to help with those two reasons and help enforce animal
Although it’s entertaining to watch these animals perform, most people don’t take the time to think about the issues that the companies that are involved in this type of entertainment encounter. The frequently asked questions of how
In these mills, the people who are in charge of the dogs, also known as breeders, are breeding female dogs left and right. Not only are they breeding every chance they get, but they are performing this task in very unsanitary conditions, which causes serious health issues for these animals in the mills. While puppy mills can help people who want to find a breed of dog that is hard to find, puppy mills need to be terminated due to the puppies being mistreated and abused, the overpopulation of dogs causing euthanization, and the breeders getting paid for selling the abused canines. There are about ten thousand puppy mills nationwide. There may be even more puppy mills than we know because they are unlicensed and do it in their own homes.
Hundreds of thousands of puppies are raised each year in commercial kennels (Puppymills Breed Misery). Puppy mills keep breed stock in horrible conditions for their short lives and produce unhealthy puppies with many issues. Not only are they committing “inhumane care,” but puppy mills are responsible for customer fraud. Many puppy mills are small and contain about twenty breeding dogs in basements, garages, or sheds “in cages stacked to the roof.” The dogs will stay in those cages without “exercise or sunlight.” Also, the dogs have two “litters” a year till about the age five. Other puppy mills contain hundreds of breeding dogs. The operators keep the puppies in “relative darkness” so the puppies seldom cry or draw attention. The dogs in puppy mills rarely receive medical attention. The females are dissipated because of the never-ending period of “producing and nursing litters.” Most dogs have “chronic ailments, rotten teeth, and ear, eye, and skin infections.” Many of the puppies purchased from puppy mills are un-healthy and not well-adjusted. The puppies have a high prevalence of hereditary syndromes and illnesses, and difficulties that occurs following the “purchase.” After the females cannot produce anymore liters...
“A dog is not a thing. A thing is replaceable. A dog is not. A thing is disposable. A dog is not. A thing does not have a heart. A dog’s heart is bigger than any “thing” you can ever own.” -Elizabeth Parker. According to the ASPCA, a puppy mill can be defined as “a large-scale commercial dog breeding facility where profit is given priority over the well-being of the dogs” (Puppy Mills 1). Dogs are more than just items that are sold for profit, they are part of many people’s families. The way dogs are being treated in the mills is not the way one would want someone in your family to be treated. Because puppy mills do not care for the animal’s health, wellbeing, or safety they should be banned federally.
Puppy mills are mass breeding facilities that show little to no care for animals. They are created so companies can breed animals to make purebreds. The animals are not well taken care of and many of them die from either disease or giving birth too many times in their life span. There should be laws and guidelines to regulate the operation of puppy mill facilities. Puppy mills bring torture to animals and need to be stopped.
Propositional Statement: Puppy mills are inhumane because they produce puppies that have health defects that could possibly lead to their pain and suffering as well as death. It is very important that the public be educated on the harm that puppy mills have on animals. There should also be more rules...
One thing that helps puppy mills exist are licenses that the USDA issues to people. These licenses have minimal requirements that need to be met in order to get one. (Johnson 155) Not just that, but the USDA itself helped start up puppy mills back after World War II, encouraging farmers to breed dogs as a cash crop. The abuse that these animals went through did assist in triggering a law to be made, the U.S. Animal Welfare Act, in 1966.
Puppy Mills are a growing problem, however, many Americans remain unsure about what they actually are. Well, imagine yourself being stuck in a small room, nowhere to go, nowhere to run, not being able to live the life you wanted to. Well, to me that is a clear example of a Puppy Mill. Puppy Mills are a commercial dog breeding facility, where they leave their dogs in an unsanitary and overcrowded environment. If they are lucky they will have food, however, the food might be contaminated with bugs.
Executive Summary Every 60 seconds, an animal is abused. Dogs, cats, horses, and many other types of animals are being neglected and tortured everyday, yet resulting in few and minor consequences for the perpetrators. Animal abuse is prevalent in the United States and has been an ongoing issue since the 1970's, and prior to. Society as a whole has chosen to avoid the facts and arguments about animal cruelty, because to some it is seen as acceptable and typical. It becomes much more frowned upon when people actually see the results of the cruelty, especially in the media.
Identifying the Problem: The problem to identify at hand is obvious; it’s the mistreatment of animals being used in the entertainment industry. Animals are ripped away from their natural habitats or bred in captivity to provide us humans with sources of entertainment. The article “Ten Fast Facts About Animals In Entertainment” explains that the majority of captivity-bred animals will not be returned to the wild. In fact, when a facility breeds too many animals, they are sometimes sold to laboratories, traveling shows, canned hunting facilities, or to private individuals (“Ten Fast Facts”). Private individuals, who inquire about wild animals, almost always lack the proper caregiving skills, and this leads to animals being neglected.
Let me ask you a question, where do you think puppies come from. Well we know that we can buy them from pet stores but where do they come from before that. The thing is, many people don’t actually know. All across Australia, dogs are being bred en masse in inhumane and cruel puppy farms (also known as a puppy factory’s or puppy mills). Our best friends are being treated as like moneymaking, breeding machines that produce puppies for profit.
Puppy mills are a serious problem in America. The Webster dictionary definitions say to be the following: “an establishment that breeds puppies for sale, typically on an intensive basis and in conditions regarded as inhumane.” This may be true but doesn’t even come close to the surface to the horrific truth puppy mills are. First, the mother dogs who supply the mills with dogs are forced to make litters until they are physically no longer able to. Next, they either auction off the dog or euthanize it.
Because there are some irresponsible breeders, animals are born with disabilities and perfectly good pets are filling humane societies. These animals could ...
The sad and terrible truth to animal abuse in the entertainment industry is most animals are poked, prodded and beaten. There have been several incidences where the predatory animal attacks their trainer. Entertainers using animals have been known to starve, beat, and trap animals for days on end. Animals are separated,
One of the biggest unintentional ways of animal cruelty is a way that many people think is helpful but is actually has a negative impact on all of the animals involved, this idea is trying to take in more animals than one can handle, they have good intentions but this is harmful to animals because it forces them to live in unhealthy conditions. There are many new cases of animal hoarding every year, with over 250,000 animals falling victim. Puppy mills are large dog breeder’s that care more about making money than the wellbeing and health of the animals. Many dogs become ill with diseases such as kidney or heart disease as a result of the conditions in which they live. There are those people, however, that DO abuse animals on purpose.
