When you think about parking lots, you may not think about potential hazards. However, a significant number of insurance claims filed annually relate to incidents that occurred in parking lots, and between 1993 and 2003, company parking lots were the site of more than 2,000 work-related deaths. Parking lots can become even more hazardous when they are busy, such as during the holiday shopping season, or when it is raining. Here are some tips to help you protect yourself in parking lots.
Staying Safe as a Pedestrian
Consider a parking lot the same way that you consider intersections and streets. Use the same caution you would exercise if you needed to cross a busy street, but include a few additional safety measures.
• Never walk behind a

• Keep your eyes moving. Watch for tripping hazards such as potholes, scan the cars parked on either side and keep an eye out for cars turning into the traffic aisle.
Staying Safe as a Driver
A parking lot mishap can ruin your day, and if someone is seriously injured, the repercussions can last a lot longer.
• Slow down. Most parking lots have speed limits of 10 mph, but remember that a speed limit is the maximum your vehicle should be traveling. If the lot is congested or the pavement is wet, you may need to reduce your speed until it is well below the posted limit.
• Be very careful when you are backing up. Watch for pedestrians walking behind your vehicle and nearby cars that might be parking next to you.
• Obey all traffic signs and pavement markings. For example, if painted arrows are used to denote the direction of travel, treat it like a one-way street and do not drive the wrong way down the aisle.
• Watch out for drivers who are not following the rules. Some drivers cut across empty parking spaces to go from one aisle to another. A driver might sail through a stop sign or make a left turn in front of you without signaling.

Parking on Campus is a Pain New students entering Concordia College are not permitted to have a car on campus. With each new freshman class entering every year, parking represents an issue. Concordia is as of now constrained in its parking on campus and since first year students are not permitted to have cars, the students are confronted with the problem of having no place to park or parking very a long way from their goal. There are parking issues everywhere throughout the campus, making backups in residence hall and other lots, bringing about students parking illegally to avoid from walking far distances, which can be very aggravating in the bitter cold. Parking nearer appears like the reasonable thing to do, however it is a hazard, which
A modern parking lot has one of the most crucial aspects which are now necessary in car parks worldwide, the presence of a boom gate, the requirement arose as a safety measure after the notorious reputation of robberies in car parks around the world, the new system allowed for a better safety mechanism as well as a god way of controlling the flow of traffic to and from a parking lot or into an estate, the boom gates are operated by electricity and can be opened by security personnel to grant access.
“So much of what goes wrong on the road, especially the accidents, are preventable. When I’m teaching, I always stress that how our next drive goes is up to us. It’s in our hands. We can’t take shortcuts, and we can’t take chances,” Viers said.
The one type of driver that really irritates me during my morning commute to work in downtown Phoenix, is the driver who is in the “fast lane” or left lane without keeping pace with the preceding car in the same lane, and also fails to yield to faster moving traffic. These drivers are creating safety issues for those around them in an already stressful situation. In contrast, some people may believe that these drivers are justified in their failure to yield to faster drivers because they are exceeding the speed limit. Nevertheless, the highway is designed to operate safe and efficient when slower drivers stay to right and remember that the left lane is a passing lane, and therefore should vacated it as soon as practicable for everyone’s benefit.
Always take a moment at the curb to review this tactic to ensure it sticks: “Now what do we do before crossing the street?”
I'm glad to hear your travels went well. Thank you for your email updates. They are appreciated. I'm more worried about the sprays they used for tomorrow's meeting place. Unfortunately, sometimes we can't avoid chemicals.
Being distracted behind the wheel of a car can be very dangerous. Even taking your eyes off the road for a split second can be dangerous. Now of days we have a lot more things that can distract us like social media and text messaging and it doesn’t matter if you're a professional driver or if you're terrible at driving, it doesn’t matter because if you're looking down at your screen, how are you watching the road? These are things that can be a factor in your choice to do this or not. People say, well I am a great driver so I will be fine but really if you're such a great driver than you should know that you need to see to be a good driver.
Crossing a railroad in a motor vehicle can be very dangerous. To prevent serious injury or fatalities from trains a driver should know how to safely cross a railroad. First the driver should alway slow down, this gives the driver more time to think and observe their surroundings. A driver should never pass another car traveling in the same direction as them at a railroad crossing. When passing a car the driver can not see if their is a train coming from the right side, keep in mind that if a car is stopped and you plan to pass it is not a very smart idea considering the car is stopped for a reason. Before crossing a railroad you should turn down your car radio as conductors will often sound the horn on a train while approaching a crossing. A driver should always assume that there is a train
Last thing, you have to take into account that you aren’t only a danger to yourself, you also pose a threat to the passengers in your vehicle, passing cyclists, other vehicles on the road, and the buildings and structures in your community. With that being said, here are 12 facts you should know about driving
One safety tip to prevent these incidents is to install a backup camera and other sensors. You don’t have to purchase a new vehicle to get these assets, a camera and/or sensors can be installed in any vehicle. However, you should also increase your awareness when your vehicle is in reverse. Some safety tips include:
Caused by “distracted driving”. These cars can go drop of you off and park miles away from you
This rule is broken all the time on highways, freeways, parking lots, etc. When we go
I want to declare my independence from terrible motorists on the road. People who cut me off, drive extremely slow in the fast lane, people that tailgate me, and people that do stupid things like texting and driving that harms themselves and even others. It is almost as though everyone on the road is trying to run into you. The thing that makes me the angriest is when I am going exactly the speed limit, even a mile per hour or so over sometimes, but the guy behind me stays right on my bumper. Even though I am still on my permit and I do not have my real license yet, I am still affected by these issues.
1. Other discourteous driving behaviors include failure to signal before a lane change, changing lanes too closely to other drivers and tailgating.
It is important to follow all traffic laws to keep everyone safe on road. The amount of traffic accidents and losses drops significantly when people are obeying the rules on the road. Sometimes we forget what a big responsibility it is to drive carefully. Traffic laws are designed to protect you and other drivers on the streets. If we don’t follow them we are not only putting ourselves in risk but also other innocent people. By knowing the rules of the road, practicing good driving skills, you help play a vital role in preventing a crash. You will also be making the safety policies more effective. Many components play a major role in road safety including speed limits that are posted and making sure safety equipment is properly installed and used.
