In both the story and the video the child turns into an adult. The story was about a boy named Martin getting a medicine bag that has been passed down through generations. In the video as young girl named Dachina has to do several actions like dancing for ten hours or running around in a circle four times over to represent the four stages of life. Advantages of the story are that in the story there was more detail and it was written in first person. First person is an advantage because it makes people feel like they're in the story and experiencing what Martin is experiencing. A disadvantage is the story is written and can't see a written story. Another disadvantage is the length of the story and how long it takes to read the whole thing.
I enjoy the first-person narration because it puts you in the readers head. Throughout The Lords of Discipline, I got to really visualize what Will had going through is head at any given point. First person narration helped me to understand the book further. I enjoyed The lords of Discipline. I enjoyed the plot twists and the small details. I believe that Pat Conroy did an excellent job in writing The Lords of Discipline. I would recommend The Lords of Discipline to a friend because the book keeps you on your
I would say that a strength and a weakness to the story would be they order he told it in. I’m so used to seeing books told in chronological order, so seeing a story told in an order other than that was quite strange for me. There are many pros and cons to telling his story like this though. A pro would be that it’s new and refreshing to most readers and keeps you light on your feet. A con might be that you could get confused or lost in the story, and you might have to read the book once or twice to really understand it.

Using second person point of view causes emotional impact on readers more than using other kinds of narration. The pronoun draws readers sinking into the story; and let
The dialogue a narrator uses with characters in a short story reflects on how the story is being understood by the reader. A character’s dialogue is assumed to be controlled by the author, and then the reader comprehends the dialogue through different points of view in which is told by a narrator. Which point of view the author uses can change how the reader may understand the story. Understanding a story is not just based off the ability to comprehend the plot, setting, characters, and theme. But importantly, understanding what point of view the narrator is in and whether the narrator has dialogue with characters within the story is important. The short story “Lusus Naturae”, written by Margaret Atwood, it’s a short story told by a first person narrator who is a main character in the story but has very minimum dialogue with the other characters. Another short story, “Sonny’s Blues”, written by James Baldwin, is

For instance the reader can watch the narrator grow in her madness by fist she make comments such as “And it is like a woman stooping down and creeping about behind that pattern. I don't like it a bit. I wonder--I begin to think--I wish John would take me away from here!”(par.) the reader understands that the narrator is having hallucinations of a woman in the wallpaper. Then the visions progress to where the woman is moving in the wallpaper. By the end of the story the woman actually in visions herself as the woman trapped in the wallpaper.” "I've got out at last," said I, "in spite of you and Jane. And I've pulled off most of the paper, so you can't put me back!"” (par.) The first person point of view allows the reader to experience what is going on in the narrators

The two texts convey the theme of freedom over confinement by the use of symbols. In The Story of an Hour, after Mrs. Mallard rushes to her room she sits down in a comfortable chair and “She could see in the open square before her house the tops of trees that were aquiver with new spring and life.” The open window symbolizes freedom and opportunities that await her now that her husband is gone. Everything she is experiencing while looking out the window suggests feelings of joy and
The beginning of the documentary took me by surprise because I did not know what to expect. However, as I continued to observe I quickly realized the point of the movie and how it would apply to the Life Span and Life Course Theories. In the following paragraphs, I will explain in my opinion, which life stages are represented and how might the stages affect the children in the future.
Many cultures in this world have rites of passages that could impact a person’s life, like celebrating Bars and Bat Mitzvahs for Jewish people to demonstrate and commit their faith and the Seijin-no-Hi in Japan for their coming of age (at age 20). In The Medicine Bag, by Virginia Driving Hawk Sneve, there is a native American named Martin who is struggled with his Lakota heritage. His dying great-grandfather, Joe Iron Shell, gives Martin a spiritual medicine bag passed on to males in his family, but he is embarrassed to wear it. He is relieved to find out that he does not need to wear it and resolves his emotions about his Lakota heritage. A video called Apache Girl’s Rite of Passage by National Geographic, it shows an Apache girl named Daschina
Written stories have a great effect on the people reading it because they learn the perspectives of others. Readers gather information from reading stories whether they are from first, second or third person perspective. The reason we should care about written stories are because we learn from them and we actually relate to what we read. Although some stories can be fiction, we the readers feel a sensation that what we are reading is a sense of
