Come on, come all to the first ever West Virginia World’s Fair. It has a nice ring to it don’t you think? This year several towns are being considered for the spot of host for the World’s Fair. It is my belief Lewisburg, WV should be this year’s host of the fair due to the fact that Lewisburg has much to offer. Lewisburg is a location close to the airports, home of the state fairgrounds, and was voted coolest little town in West Virginia.
On the other hand, opposers may say the town is not a good option. The mountains terrain may cause some to vote against the idea. Others may agree that there are not enough attractions to draw crowds. The location is not central to airports making travel and issue. It can also be said that the town’s too small for such an event. Several remakes can and will be made against the idea because they want the fair to be held in their hometown.

A world’s fair in Lewisburg is a wonderful idea! Lewisburg is large enough to host the state fair, and I believe it is, in fact, large enough to host the world fair. There are several hundred open acres to house vendors of all sorts and the parking area is already available. This town has already been recognized as the smallest little town in WV. The Chicago World's Fair of 1893 changed America in enormous ways. Probably the most prominent being that it directly changed America's and the world's perception of America and our capabilities. Not only was it the first in America, but the Chicago World's Fair propelled America...

The Chicago World’s Fair of 1893 was the turning point between old Victorian, provential, and backwater ways in the US, and the modern outlook and culture we enjoy today. It was built on a scale that had never been seen before. It provided technological wonders, new cultures, and a look into a brighter future. It helped to take the US from being a backwater, second rate power to a world super power. It was progressive in the labor and safety movements. In short, it was a major turning point in American history.
They say laughter is good for the soul, and fun is always good when well spent with family and friends. Imagine going around in a dizzy circle, laughing and crying at the same time because you’re dropped from over 20 feet in the air, because truth be told, what’s a fair without rides? While pigging out on fair foods and winning small prizes are fun, the fair has so much more to offer and here are a few attractions you don’t want to miss.
In 1893 a world fair was held in Chicago Illinois to celebrate the 4thcentenniel of Columbus discovering the Americas. The exposition displayed grand buildings with beautiful architecture, hundreds of exhibits ranging from exotic tribes of Africa, to new inventions, expertly constructed landscape, and astounding attractions such as the first Ferris wheel. The fair lasted for six months and had over 27 million visitors, including ¼ of the American population.

In 1893, the great Chicago World’s Fair took place. Just climbing to the second largest populated city in America, Chicago had a lot to prove. The World’s Fair was a perfect opportunity for Chicago to come together and show that they can compete with other large cities like New York and Philadelphia. For the World’s Fair to be as successful as it was, there was a need for leaders, innovators, new inventions, and tremendous attractions. Without these, the fair could not have been designed and constructed as well as it was. Eventually, Chicago had convinced the entire United States that they could be just as powerful and influential as all the other larger, big-name cities of the country. America transformed into an advanced country as a result of the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair.

The number two reason I love West Virginia is the fun recreational activities it has to offer. In the spring I can go watch a baseball game, or take a relaxing walk through the beautifully flowered gardens. In the summer I may enjoy a soothing swim, or white water raft down the New River. Also in the fall I can walk through Grandview State Park and see the various colors of the leaves. After my walk I could stop by the theater and take in a production of Annie. These are just a few of the recreational activities that I enjoy every year in West Virginia.
While the mood continues to be pleasant, the village gathers for what would appear to be a joyous festival everyone looks forward to. “The lottery was conducted –as were the square dances, the teen-age club, the Halloween program… (p.445).”
In the year 1921, Conrad Eckhold, the owner of Atlantic City’s Monticello Hotel was looking for a way to keep tourists in town past Labor Day. After discussing the tourist problem with other Atlantic City business owners, the idea of a “Fall Frolic” was created. The Fall Frolic included a two-day competition to be called “Atlantic City’s Inter-City Beauty Pageant”, in years after it would be known as the “Miss America Pageant” (Miss America, 2/20/2011).

Globalization is an overwhelming trend. It is no doubt that there are many positives rise out of globalization, but equally some serious negatives brought from this trend, such as gradual disappearance of ethnic identity (Buckley, 1998). This essay is going to address some positive effects of globalization generally, and then it will focus on impacts of this trend on developing countries.
The local culture and customs might attract the businessmen who are attending a conference in the city and give them a favorable experience, and then they are likely to establish their business operations there in the future. Thus business tourism can stimulate future investments for the destination.
