Home schooling should not be the first option to teach your children because it contributes to the lack of interaction, which leads to communication issues that are needed for children. Many opinions are often formed against the thought of a child being home schooled versus a public or private school. This subject has been argued many times in the past and even today. There are many different outlooks on this situation. Several believe that with home schooling, children are learning more than those that attend a school. They also miss out on a lot of things such as the lack of communication skills and the learning method that is used in a college setting. Many argue that parents choose to home school their children in order to protect them from things such as being bullied, while you have others who feel that you cannot protect children from everything. Children need to be exposed to certain situations at some given points in their lives. A child that is home schooled, in my opinion, is often sheltered and does not fully understand the true meaning of struggles in life. It is understood that some parents oppose the fact that their children will be bullied in public schools but once again you cannot protect them from all the dangers.
Many people often feel that home-schooled children are not fully challenged to the best of their abilities. Some may feel that if a student is placed in a classroom setting and given the opportunity to strive and excel academically against twenty plus peers that it would result in allowing them to both question and challenge their peer’s answers. This could result in the child learning different methods of learning, and also help with memorization. While we say that home schooling is benefitting our children, it remains a fact that those children are not prepared for the real

Founding father John Adams encouraged his spouse to educate their children while he was on diplomatic missions (Clark, 1994). By the 1840's instruction books for the home were becoming popular in the United States and Britain. The difficulty of traveling to the system of community schools was provoking detractors. At this time, most of the country began moving toward public schools (Clark, 1994). One of the first things early pioneers did was set aside a plot of land to build a school house and try to recruit the most educated resident to be the schoolmarm. As the popularity of the public school movement began to rise behind Horace Mann many states soon passed compulsory-education laws. Ironically another factor behind public schools was the desire to use them to spread Christian morality, with its concern for the larger good over individualism (Clark, 1994).
