What is a UAV? For people who don’t know, it stands for “Unmanned Aerial Vehicle”. It’s also called a drone. What is a drone? Well, it is an unmanned aircraft that is guided by a remote. You may think they are fun to use and they’re not harmful. Well, you guessed wrong. There are many dangers with using this. For example, crashes with planes, cars, and other drones in the area. But, they could be used for some helpful things, like drone delivery and for getting to hard to reach regions after a natural disaster to deliver food and water. What are the pros and cons of drone delivery? Well, there aren’t many cons, but there are many pros. For example, forget overnight shipping when you could get your package delivered on the same day you ordered it by drone (just pay the extra $50)! Companies like Amazon and Google X (aka Google) have been testing out drone delivery. So, if you need your package the same day you purchased it (I don’t understand why you would unless you are a bad person and you forgot to buy a gift for someone), and you want to break out the extra $50 off your credit card, than this is for you! But, once again, it's in testing so yeah. …show more content…
Now, there are many dangers with drones.
For example, crashes. Lately, there have been a large amount of drone crashes. Many airports are establishing “No-Fly Zones”, for example, a runway. There also have been a lot of planes having close encounters with drones. People want to be able to fly them in public, but there are many rules against this. There are many regulations about drones, which I will get into later. People want to blame the drones MANUFACTURER about the problems. Well, how I see it, if you can’t fly it, then don’t try it. Basically, if you don’t know how to fly the drone, than don’t fly it. This would eliminate the danger that would be
possible. As long drones have been around, people have wanted more regulations on them. but a very important one is that ANY drone weighing over ½ lb. (half a pound) has to be registered with the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration). What does that mean? That means that if you are caught flying an unregistered drone over ½ a pound, or caught not showing proper registration on your drone (Drone ID Number, for example, FA-000-001) you could be fined a civil penalty of $27,500, a criminal charge of $250,000 and/or 3 years in PRISON. Another thing that people want is a lower allowed flight height. The legal height to fly a drone right now is 400 or less feet.
Which means it will deliver the items on the time. Humans make mistakes or deliver the wrong package, the machines don’t. The machines only follow the instructions and only do what is instructed to them. Also, humans get tired, machines don’t. Usage of delivery drones will definitely reduce the human labor force, which could be for better or worse.... ...
All through out history, we have had many situations that may have had good intentions but in reality would have bad consequences. Some people might think they are doing the right thing but in reality they might just be making the situation worse. For instance, we see it in Plato’s “Allegory of the Cave”, Vonnegut’s “Harrison Bergeron”, and today with “Vaping” also know as the use of an electronic cigarette.
Have you been told repeatedly that something is really dangerous? Have you been told to stay away and perhaps report things that seem risky? Have you learned that those things as time goes on aren’t as jeopardizing and are even beneficial to people? Gun ownership is an example of things that may seem threatening, but really isn’t. Legalizing gun ownership reduces the crime rate dramatically, is a Second Amendment right in the Constitution, and helps control animal populations from exploding out of control.
after movies like “Crash” with the exposed (but not unfamiliar) unjustified acts, how does a society
of certain individuals has on other members of the community and how it can harm them as well.
This argues that no matter what kind of generalization you use there will be a consequence, but there might be a positive consequence as well like the prevention of more dog attacks from happening, or lowering New York’s crime rate. At the end of the essay he leaves the comment, “It’s always easier just to ban a breed”. It implies that as a society we shy away from proper generalization because of what could be implied as laziness. This claim drives his essay’s thesis because in all of his examples he gave reasons on what a better generalization can do to the problem in question yet, we chose to ignore the extra work needed to be put in correcting a major generalization such as trying to identify a Muslim terrorist. It is true, as a society, we use generalizations to create a shortcut when dealing with broad decisions especially when reacting to a moment of crisis.
Secondly, according to Bezos, 53% of all Amazon’s shipped products weight five pounds or less, and therefore, Amazon is planning on launching the delivery drone which can carry such weight within 10 miles of their Fulfilment Centers (FCs), and should greatly increase customer satisfaction because of a great decrease in delivery time (30 minutes delivery time) (Amazon Web Services 2012).
With the new delivery capabilities, the time it takes for packages to be delivered across long distances could be cut down to a matter of hours. The uses for drones extend far beyond the single-minded idea that drones are killing machines with no other capabilities.... ... middle of paper ... ...
Another name for drones are Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVS). These are “aircraft either controlled by ‘pilots’ from the ground or increasingly, autonomously following a pre-programmed mission” (Cole 4). Even though there are many unique types of drones, but they usually fall under two main categories: ones that are armed and equipped with missiles and bombs and others that are used for surveillance. In the past couple of years the use of drones has increased dramatically. The reason being because “unlike manned aircraft they can stay aloft for many hours and are flown remotely so there is no danger to the flight crew” (Cole 13). There are drones that can actually fly over more than fifty hours. In countries such as Afghanistan and Iraq, the Predator and U.S Reaper are physically there. Cause of the power of technology th...
Drones create the newest job as well as an opportunity for people. This allows people to have many choices for jobs. For those who study engineering as drones will be more advanced in the future, they will have an easier time getting the job because they are new and so they need people. There are many jobs with drones that offer quite a sum of money. For example, drone pilots start salary about fifty dollars an hour and there is no danger at all.
Regulatory bodies have been trying to suppress the use of drones for commercial purposes. The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) had imposed serious restrictions on the use of drones in the United States. Although recently, the FAA is trying to lift some restrictions but is still against the use of drones for delivery of packages. According to the new rules of FAA, a pilots flying drones, will need to obtain a special pilots certificate who would keep the drone at line of sight at all times. Drones would need to stay away from bystanders and should fly only during the day.
Drones or Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVS) are controlled via two ways which are by pilots from ground or by a self directed pre-programmed mission. Cole and Wright (2010) identify that having various types, drones basically meant to serves the following two purposes:
It saves you time, not only for the production of the drone, but the result is satisfying, especially if you're starting with drones. Buying a camera drone itself is a particular need for the installation and uncertain outcome. The exception is perhaps the only combination drone DJI Phantom Zenmuse stabilization and an optional GoPro camera. How much is a good drone? Drones, like many other devices can be classified into price categories to each other airlines characteristics, battery life per charge and the quality of the acquired images differ.
The importance of the study is primarily focused on the reactions of society. Thus, the labeling theory is not concerned with the initial impulse for a violation, but rather how the labeling transforms the behavior into a pattern (Berger, Free, and Searles 2009). Explanations relating
Drones are an emerging technology that has countless benefits and a myriad of intangible side-effects. I will clearly explain how drones effect on our lives by exploring the Social, Cultural, Political and Environmental impacts drone technology presents in our lives today.
