As he began, Professor Gisondi let his audience know that the purpose of his research, as well as the focus of his book, Finding Bigfoot, was to study those who have actively searched for Bigfoot and understand why many choose to dedicate portions of their lives to such a controversial and unpredictable pursuit. At the beginning of the presentation, Professor Gisondi showed the audience the supposed footage of Bigfoot shot in California by Roger Patterson, footage that many have come to view as solid proof of Bigfoot’s existence. Professor Gisondi mostly went on the presumption that his audience already knows what Bigfoot is, though the Patterson video does provide a decent explanation of Bigfoot through the footage of the creature itself. …show more content…

I believe Gisondi stayed true to his original claim that his primary purpose was to examine the people who try to search for this elusive creature, which helped establish his speaking credibility. He explained that, during his research, he encountered some whose testimonies did not seem valid, though the majority of the people he interviewed seemed genuine in their pursuits. His explanation of his process of evaluating claims that seemed credible and those that did not also contributed to his trustworthiness both as a speaker and as a writer. Professor Gisondi introduced a colleague who shared his own story of a Bigfoot encounter. The man described Bigfoot as a “humongous thing” that, at the time of his encounter, had been laying “down in the bushes” and kept poking its head up to momentarily glimpse the humans watching him before hiding once more. The man reasoned that, since he was not alone during this sighting, it must surely have existed; however, the unspoken question that remains is whether or not the creature seen was truly
