On March 22nd, 2017, I attended a second grade Professional Learning Community (PLC) at Mispillion Elementary in the Milford School District. There were six participants: Diana Brode (second grade teacher), Anne Ochs (second grade teacher), Brittney Campbell (second grade teacher), Emily Shrock (second grade teacher), Toni Zeveney (second grade teacher and teacher leader), and Mrs. Molitor (special education coordinator). Toni Zeveney is the teacher leader, instructional coach, team lead, type’s notes, and reports to administration. The other members were there to support ideas. The length of the PLC was forty give mins long, and discussed several issues. Each grade level was participating in the PLC on Google Docs. This was to give a collaborative …show more content…
The purpose of the strategic planning was to discuss what each grade level thought positive and negative about certain areas in the school. Since I was with the second grade team, I received their responses and feelings on the areas of discussion. The first area was School Procedures. The second grade team said that they thought negatively about breakfast being ate in the classroom because it takes too long and they were losing instructional time. Their solution to this problem was breakfast in the cafeteria. The second areas addressed was After School Activities. The second grade team though positive about the tutoring opportunities the school had in place. They however, thought negative about too much activities all being on the same day so therefore students have to pick in which activity they want to be in. The third topic was PBS. The second grade team loves the school store cart idea and monthly booster assemblies. They dislike the school store cart availability and how it’s low on resources. The fourth topic was PLC. The second grade team responded by saying they like the time to meet with their team but dislike the cross district ones because they are unorganized. The fifth topic was Technology. The second grade team said they love the use of Sumdog but dislike that computer cart check out process. The sixth topic was Communication. The second grade team said they love the use of Walkie Talkies. They dislike flipped TL PowerPoints before meetings, and therefore should be done at the meetings. The seventh topic discussed was Student Groupings. The second grade team said they help to meet the student’s needs but lack the ability to group by student’s ability. The eighth topic was ELL supports, and they had no positives mentioned. They said some negatives were: reports cards only in English, other forms in English, lack of Creole translator, and that ELL supports shouldn’t be done during
Strategic planning did nothing but hinder Youth Haven from making more profit, keeping investors happy, and staying on mission. It was not the best management technique for Youth Haven. Since they had a deficit of $20,000, I believe they should not have outsourced to a third-party for a fee. Because of this their funding continued to get increasingly tighter. They still had a deficit and if they can not keep their investors happy, they are going to leave too. Strategic planning should be used as a stepping stool used to evaluate company policy and mission retention. Strategic planning was not used wisely within this organization. Strategic planning is a stepping stool within an organization and should only be used as such. According to a Strategic
Each group, in order, should present their slides. After the presentation, review the individual assignment. You may either brainstorm possible responses as a class, or individually. Conclude by returning to the essential question for the entire six or seven days. I like to use a “tag board.”
Initially, I must state the context within which I have been working. The school I am based in is situated in urban area with just over three hundred children present. I am working in a year two class, consisting of thirty children. There is a broad range of abilities that presents its own challenges across the class, there is four SEN children to consider. In the class two SEN children have one-to-one TA’s and one is working from a different timetable from the rest of the school. My elicitation topic was chosen because it was a subject theme that the children had not yet learnt: Body Systems- Skeletal System. I decided to plan for my three profile children plus another child who is very interested in science, this was intended to create
Students will be divided into 4 groups and will sit at their dry erase board tables. Teacher will ask them to reflect on a couple questions. They will first debate it within their group ( using a marker to write down their points of necessary), then share their thoughts with the whole class.

Examining the Flaws of True Crime Narratives Lexi Nabor Eastern Arizona College Written Communications 102 Mrs. Ruiz February 22, 2024 Background True crime storytelling is a genre that delves into real-life criminal cases and the people involved in them. It focuses on the investigation, the suspects, and the victims, often exploring the motives behind the crimes and the impact they had on society. True crime storytelling seeks to uncover the truth behind these shocking and often gruesome events, shedding light on the darker side of human nature.

Using specific examples from Jake’s lesson, first discuss whether Jake’s objectives were appropriate and then discuss whether each of his lesson objectives (psychomotor, cognitive, affective) and teacher objectives (stated below) were met.
Strategic planning consist of four steps starting from defining the company’s mission. When talking about a mission were talking about a certain phrase or slogan for say, that is intended to draw attention to customers and make them want to be even more loyal to the company. For example Walmart says, “Save money. Live Better”. Therefore, Walmart’s mission would be to let people know that they have low prices all day every day, insinuating that their products are affordable for everyone. This is a good mission because it gets the majority of the people in this world to want to go out and save money on their everyday necessities and even luxuries. The second step would be to set certain objectives and goals for the company as well. For example, CVS did use “Health is everything” as their mission and this didn’t just set out for a name it became a goal as well. Sooner or later you must set goals on your mission to understand the level that you need to get to and reach. Another example of a goal that I believe CVS set was to start selling healthier products. In the chapter it says that CVS stopped selling tobacco and other products that
Strategic planning is the continuous and systematic process of guiding members of an organization to make decisions about its future, develop the necessary procedures and operations to achieve that future, and determine how success will be achieved.
For Doman 1, planning and preparation, I believe that I demonstrate adequate skills. I work hard to make connections to my content knowledge with other subject areas through discussions with general education teachers for social studies and science curriculums (Danielson, 1996). As a special education teacher, I must have a full understanding of my students (Danielson, 1996). I design lessons that are the instructional match for my students, modify grade level curriculum, and accommodate for different learning styles. I also try to choose books that would be interesting to my students and create math story problems around the activities that students participate in. Assessing student learning is critical to monitor instruction and to report student progress accurately (Danielson, 1996). The development of this component was a goal of mine during the first semester of this school year. I feel that now, I have acc...
In the beginning I was hesitant of having four first graders working together to decide and agree on five items. While walking around and checking in with the groups I realized the students were working together and were talking through the ideas together. I thought this aspect of the lesson was a success because the students are in groups of higher-level students and lower-level students, as I walked around I heard the lower level students explaining their thinking and teaching the higher-level
The one topic that was most relevant was behavioral issues, because most of the students in this classroom had behavioral problems and it affect the way they learn. It was great to see the teacher be patience, and it was very insightful to watch how she handle each behavioral problem that arose in the classroom. Another topic that arose was the different types of instruction, but as discussed early in the paper the classroom that I observed was a direct instruction. During the time spent in the school I gained insight on how to have good classroom management, what method on teaching worked the best, how to teach children with needs, and how to better motivate the children to
The teachers were giving the students positive reinforcement throughout the day. In class we talked about how positive reinforcement helps the students to succeed in their classes. Another ah-ha moment was the environment of the classroom. The classroom had no windows at all. In class we talked about what kinds of things are distracting to students with ASD in classrooms and one of those things are the windows in classrooms. The third ah-ha moment was the parent sheets that the teacher and the school provide for the parents. In class we talked about how parent involvement is very important for the students with disabilities. The teacher fills out the parent involvement paper that lets the parents know how the child did in school this week and what their child needs to improve on. The students must give their paper to their parents to look at when they get home. The things that I had learned during my observation experience that I will use in the future for my classroom will be including student learning objectives in the classroom, using positive reinforcement, and get the parents more involved in their child’s education. I will go over with the students what the student learning objectives are in the beginning of class so the students will know what they will be doing and what they will be learning throughout the day. I also will use positive
