Analysis of the Situation
There are currently 4 million vegetarians in the UK, and this figure is increasing at a rate of 5,000 each week. The fact that the number of vegetarians in the UK has doubled in the past ten years, proves vegetarianism to be constantly gaining popularity. The UK retail market for vegetarian foods is increasing by eight per cent per year, reflecting the constant demands for meat alternatives.
Quorn products are amongst the most popular vegetarian foods in the UK, which is indicated through the vast amount of people choosing Quorn products as regular mealtime alternatives to meat based meals.
I have chosen Quorn chicken style nuggets as my product study, as it is a well-established meat alternative, and one of Qourn's best selling products. Quorn as a company cater for many different needs of customers from social groups including religion and faith, culture, low fat diets, and of course, vegetarians themselves.
History of Micoprotein and Quorn Products
In the 1960's nutritionists and health experts were concerned that the predicted growth
in population would mean that by the 1980's there would be a global protein shortage.
Nutritionists and food scientists started a search to find new foods, which would help
to meet the predicted increase in demand.
The discovery of an organism occurring naturally in the soil ultimately gave Marlow
Foods the opportunity to develop such a new food; mycoprotein.
Research and product development work progressed. It wasn't until the early 1980's that mycoprotein could be grown on a com...

Wheat flour, wheat germ, yeast, salt are all used to make the breadcrumbs for the nuggets. The yeast allows the crumbs to grow and mixes with the ingredients, where as the wheat starch and flour are the main ingredients forming the crumbs. The salt is again used for extra flavouring.
Sunflower oil replaces the fat in the mixture, making it a healthier option. It allows the nuggets to be fried a lot more easily, due to its high smoke point.

The first thing you will need to do is gather everything that is essential to the task. This should be simple because there are only eight ingredients. They consist of flour tortillas, refried beans, ground beef, grated cheese, green onions, tomatoes, mushroom soup, and sour cream. You will also need a large mixing bowl, a frying pan, a pot, a knife, a spatula, four or five tablespoons, and a nine by thirteen glass baking dish.
.... People do not have to become vegetarians, but people should consider other meat and food as alternatives. Ultimately, if a majority of people chose organic farms and foods it would put a heavy hit on the meat production business. People will be eating healthier, and they will be doing their healthy part in the ecosystem and that will help to lower greenhouse gas emissions and greatly improve treatment of animals. The prices of organic food just need to come down dramatically for people to buy it. Methane from liquid manure, nitrous oxide from manmade fertilizers, carbon dioxide from machines are why people have put themselves and animals into a dilemma and made it into a never-ending continuous cycle.
According to Hinduism, the religion most common in this country, believe that killing animals is inhumane and is unfair to the creature, thus there are not many meats that available for the people, except in some certain areas. Despite this fact, meat alternatives are very popular in India for these people being able to get protein and healthy fats while still being able to follow the guidelines of their religion. The prices of lentils, especially are cheap there as many poor and middle class families rely on these types of foods. Some examples of these types of lentils or culturally known as, daal, are moong, urad, masoor, and chana daal. Moreover, India is one of the major importers of lentils from Canada surprisingly, spending on average $1.1 billion dollars. As this Asian nation is already drowned in substantial amounts of debt, having many of its citizens buying all the lentils can ensure them that they are making profit of these foods. Thus, through the food guide, they want to encourage Indians to continue to buy this item buy making the protein a section of the food guide, rather than nothing or a very small portion. Moving on, in Canada, meat and alternatives are a small portion of the food guide because an individual does not need a lot of it to maintain a healthy body. Also, in many western countries like Canada, fast food meals have become very popular and are being eaten in enormous quantities, raising the number of obese, diabetic and individuals with heart related problems. Therefore, in the food guide it addresses Canadians to have small servings of meat when cooking themselves, to ensure that none or merely a few people are overeating
Food, especially meat is such a central part of human society that it cannot be ignored. Just as big minds came together in the 60’s to make a better chicken, they can come together to solve a crisis that harms every person living in this country. Jonathan Safran Foer’s book gives an important look into what goes on behind the scenes of factory farms, and offers logical solutions. However, it will take more than this, and more than just vegetarian encouragement to make any lasting changes. It will take the votes of consumers both in the supermarket and on ballots to evoke a better system. Take a look at what is on your plate next time you sit down for a meal. Did you vote well?
To start the recipe, the following supplies will be needed; a medium bowl, knives, measuring spoons, a cutting board, and a spatula to stir the ingredients, a regular spoon can be used

While plant-based diet have been around for decades, veganism did not make headlines until the late 1990’s. ‘Vegetarian’ first appears in a title of an article on September 16th, 1852, five years after the Vegetarian Society was formed (Vegetarian Society). Although veganism has clearly risen in popularity in the 21st century, it can not be concluded that American’s view plant-based eating positively. Multiple articles have been published bashing the lifestyle. ‘Vegan’ first appeared in a title of an article on December 6th, 1998, fifty-four years after the first vegan society was formed (Vegan Society). The article was titled, “All Species Welcome At A Vegan Mixer.” The author wrote about veganism as a foreign idea and made jokes on vegan’s behalf. The second time veganism appeared in the New York Times was in December of the same year. The article exposed a vegan eco-terrorist group, giving all vegans a bad reputation. Two years later, on February 1st, 2000,
Animals are violently tortured, trapped, caged, hurt, poisoned, blind, and killed and no one gives any care about the concern. According to the Last Chance for Animals Organization, “Farmed animals are bred, fed, confined, and drugged to lay more eggs, birth more offspring, and die with more meat on their bones at the expense of their health, wellbeing and social development.” They are pumped with antibiotics for rapid growth, maintaining health, and preventing and treating diseases. In the book called, “Vegetarianism” by Justin Healey, he states, “The number of animal species in Australia is declining at a higher rate than any other country except the USA” (Healey 9). Many animals are facing their deaths for the production of meat to rise. Animal agriculture businesses consider animals more as production than living species. There are characteristics of animals that people do not notice, like how pigs are affection or chickens are smart like
From this rudimentary description of the production of potato chips, one can see that the main ingredients include potatoes, oil, and some salt. However, what may not be so apparent are the “non-ingredient” inp...
The amount of people becoming vegetarians these days is growing. There are a few different types of vegetarians for example; the lacto-ovo vegetarian doesn’t eat any animal products except milk and eggs. Another type of vegetarian is the vegan, they exclude all animal products.

In general, the public loves their meat. I mean look at our streets there are McDonalds, Burger Kings, and Wendy’s around almost every corner. When asked if they would go vegan most people would say no, I love to eat meat. To vegans this disgusts them and their reasoning is very convincing.
Sunflower oil is largely omega 6 polyunsaturates, so if you use sunflower oil regularly, you need to be sure you're getting enough omega 3s in your diet from other sources to balance it out. Re-using the oil more than a few times for deep-frying could cause the formation of harmful trans fats. There is nothing redeemable about trans fats.

However, many people still refuse to be a vegetarian for different reasons. Some people prefer the taste of meat, and some people believe that they are born to eat meat. Despite that about 2 billion people in the world live basically on the meat diet, around 4 billion people live mainly on a plant-based diet because of food shortage(Pimentel & Pimentel, 2003, pp660S). As everyone knows, the number of population is growing. For example, the total U.S. population doubled in the previous 60 years, and it may double again in the next 70 years (Pimentel & Pimentel, 2003, pp660S). People won’t have enough meat to eat in the future. On the other hand, a well-planned vegetarian diet offers many health benefits. Therefore, people should become vegetarian because it benefits to huma...
