Producing an Entertainment Website for Teenagers
Planning
========
Our task was to design a website for a chosen target audience. My aim
was to produce an entertainment website for teenagers. The reason why
I choose to have teenagers as my target audience is mainly because I
am a teenager myself so I would understand what code and conventions
to have in my website.
The research that was needed was:
Ø What categories to have on the website
Ø What colour scheme people like best
Ø The name of the site
To make the research successful I made a survey for the audience to
fill out, we choose only to hand the survey out to people around our
age group. I choose to hand out the survey to 20 people. The survey
also had to stand out and look professional so that people refuse to
do the survey. I thought that designing it on a computer would make it
look professional.
The results that I received from the survey:
Ø The favourite colour schemes:
Blue and black- 8 people
Blue and White-8 people
Ø The favourite 3 categories for the website:
Music, sports and games.
Ø The favourite name:
E-zone
I had encountered one problem with the results I got from the surveys.
I had to choose between the games page or a gossip page. I choose the
games page because I thought that it would attract more people.
We also had to make a decision on what the content of our pages was
going to be. The games page was going to include a top ten chart for
the Playstation2, and reviews for the top three. The music page was
going to include a top ten chart. The sports page was going to have
the most; there was going to be football, cricket, rugby union, motor
sports, Olympics and a premiership table.
Once all our research was done we had to split the roles in the
production of the website.
Staples’ Article “What Adolescents miss when we let them grow up in cyberspace” explains how children are constantly living their lives through cyberspace such as email, chatroom, and instant messages, causing them to “miss” essential real-life social development skills when they grow up in “cyberspace” that would be vital to them when they enter adulthood. There are many examples, however the three most significant examples that support this idea is: Research is supporting that continuous use of cyberspace is isolating young socially connected people;Staples uses Prof.Robert Kraut a researcher at Carnegie Mellon university idea that people let real-world relationship get replaced by the ones made in cyberspace; and Staples’
Nowadays, a standard stage of growing up is feeling the stress of one’s body image due to the growing pressure from society and media. In 2012 there was a survey that said “A full 50 percent of children from 8 to 10 years old report being ‘unhappy’ with their bodies” (ProQuest Staff). This is because when girls are growing up they see models/ actresses on TV and magazines that are thin and look beautiful and they think that’s what they are supposed to look like; unfortunately this is unrealistic. In 2006 there was a fashion model named Luise Ramos who died of a heart attack moments after she steps off the runway during fashion week in Montevideo (ProQuest Staff). News accounts later report that Ramos, 22, had been eating only lettuce and diet
Teenvogue.com is a marketing website that targets adolescence. While looking through this website you will see ads of what the latest celebrities are selling or wearing, facial cleaner ads, along with direct tabs for fashion and beauty. Teen Vogue targets through mainly fashion designs of the latest styles and celebrities, along with the newest makeup and beauty products for adolescence. The website psychological targets teens by using relatable styles, colors, famous youth, and targeting what teens love to buy. Some companies may target age groups by using methods such as running emotional ideas, highlighting their flaws, repositioning their competition, promoting exclusivity, and lastly introducing fear, uncertainty, and doubt. This the list is valid because other sources, such as GameRadar and IGN, have similar lists with the same games.

Kids growing up in the 90’s were able to run around all over town, but today kids don’t get to have as much freedom. It’s our duty to raise kids who won’t be afraid of everything and anything. A line needs to be drawn between too much fear and not enough. The media is a main cause to why parents are more fearful of their kids today than ever before, especially if they aren’t white. Fear is important to have today in society, but it’s becoming out of hand.
The teenage mind revolves around music. Music is something highly appreciated by teens. Music can be used at parties, hangouts, study sessions, or when one just needs time to chill out. But along with it’s benefits, music can also be detrimental to a teens mental health. “Under the Influence of Music” by Tara Parker and “Why Teens Need Their Music” by Rebecca Laclair are two articles explaining both the positive and negative effects music has on teens. Although the two articles are about the effects of music on teens, they are vastly different.
people were now able to choose from how they would like to receive their news whether
Everyone has a habit that they need out of there lives like; smoking, procrastinating, drugs, drinking, ect. Most people say that teens these years have it easy because we don't have much on use like they did, but if you think about Teens these year have a lot of pressure on them and work really hard for themselves. For a teen you have to be straight A, be good looking, be fit, and still have a social life to be even close to fitting in. With that pressure teens start to fall into bad habits and grow up to be unsuccessful. The book 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens is very helpful and useful for teens it will show you ways to improve your way that you look at life and they way you look towards others.

business and the list keeps going. However; Scrolling down your news feed allows you to interact with peoples opinion and feelings not actual information.
Platform for Internet Control Selection (PICS) was an Internet standard formed by W3C in 1996 to allow parents to filter content, primarily nudity. It was completely voluntary and up to the website owners themselves to label their own site. This is because the Internet has an end-to-end infrastructure; control is placed on the users rather than a centralized unit. By letting website owners place ratings, the massive burden of a singular agency trying to judge all the sites on the web by itself is avoided. However, self-compliance cannot place too much on the end user or users wont do it.
In the twenty -first century, teenagers live in a life of social networking and life’s online. It’s hard to believe how much the world has changed over the decades, especially in technology. Technology helps people to contact relatives and friends from long distance more easily and conveniently. People can now talk to each other from everywhere in the world simply through chat and video calls. By time, internet connections have spread throughout households and social networking such as Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, and Instagram has increased gradually. However, the internet and several modern technologies have wasted many times and has hurt the society. Social media plays such a big role in people’s lives that some people couldn’t even imagine
Technology affects everyone! Whether positive or negative, we are all affected, how it manifests itself into problems for youth will be studied and debated for years. Balancing technology throughout the educational process and keeping with current trends and uses of technology will affect everyone. Technology has transformed our youth’s daily and social lives. How do we measure the effects of technology on our ability to socialize or have a successful social life? Socializing is not just talking face to face, it’s our ability to interact, learn, and create original thought. Technology hindering today’s youth and their ability to socialize is affecting their capacity to read, write, and communicate. Today’s youth depends on careful considerations for the implementation of technologies. Our youth do not have the capability to convey their emotions through the use of technology, understand sadness, happiness or joy through simple text or emails. Communicating through the use of text, chat, and social network sites is lost using abbreviations and slang, inhibiting the use of the Standard English language. Using computers and hand held devices for relationships, reading, writing, and entertainment, turning them into introverted and socially inept individuals. Current trends resonating from our educational institutions to our workplace can be examples of how technology has altered the way younger people communicate. This tragedy transcends from youth to adulthood affecting the workplace. Social networking sites have begun to take hours away from employers. How do students understand ethical and moral dilemmas unless they are allowed to make mistakes and work through a particular problem? Creative and original thought needs...
If somebody had told me five years ago that I would spend all of my free time in front of my computer screen I would have called him crazy. For me outdoor life has always been much more interesting than staying at home. It took me just one night to realize how important the Internet is for me. That night I spent seven whole hours on-line, just entertaining myself. I now believe that the Internet is quite an effective means of entertainment because I can download pictures, songs and videos, chat and communicate with other people and also play network games.
