Problem Statement/Problem Analysis:
Violence against women is the issue needing to be addressed. The problem with violence against women is a major public health problem and violations of women’s human rights (World Health Organization, 2014). Violence can result in physical, mental, and sexual act of rape (Heise, Raikes, Watts, & Zwi, 1994). The violence against women usually occurs from a family member, friend or intimate partner and sexual. Intimate partner and sexual violence are mostly perpetrated by men against women and child sexual abuse affects both boys and girls (World Health Organization, 2014). Women and victims of violence suffer from behavioral, and emotional distress.
Research from CDC states, the United States medical community treats millions of intimate partner rapes and physical assaults annually (Intimate Partner Violence: Data Sources, 2014). Violence against women by intimates is often accompanied by emotionally abusive and controlling behavior. Having a verbally abusive partner is likely to predict that a woman be victimized by an intimate partner. Women would experience chronic and injurious physical assaults at the hands of intimate partners than do men (Intimate Partner Violence: Data Sources, 2014). The majority of victims of violence do not report their victimization to the police. Victims do not believe police can do anything on their behalf (Intimate Partner Violence: Data Sources, 2014).
