Social networking the end of privacy or the beginning of new era
Nowadays, billions of people are using social networking sties (media) such as Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp, MySpace and Tumbler and so on. Long-range informal communication social networking sites are a piece of ordinary life and they have accumulated revolutionary progressions correspondence between individuals. All these sort of informal communities (social networks) speaks to the start of the beginning of new era. Many people worry about the bad impact that social networking sites brings to our social life. They think that social networks lead to worst situation or scenario in our life. However, if we use it right as a social tool there is nothing we would like to fret and good thing about social networks is far larger than its bad impact.
Firstly, a Social network is free and it is one of the finest intermediate for correspondence (communication). With using social network sites, we are able to connection to a several sorts of people from any place, because of nearly each person round the world use social network sites. Moreover, it allows us getting friendship easier than before. However, most of people think that the friendships based on social networks are not real and unreliable. I completely agree with this because I do not believe the friendship only based on a social networking too. However, it is not social networking Fault; a social network is just an online society and social tool. It would be better to know a person in the real world first before you adding them on your accounts. People cannot become real friends without meeting each other or hanging out. We are making more friends and keeping in touch with those friends easier with this media. Social networks are bringing us into a new era of social life. You’re being watched- everything you do is being recorded by the government. One might think the sentence before is referring to to a dystopian novel, such as 1984, only, it’s not. This is a startling truth of the twenty-first century. Along with rapidly advancing technology, the government is following the average American citizen closer. Protecting ones security and privacy should always be the highest priority. As a manager or upper level staff the concern is for them to uphold to the standards of privacy in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA). HIPPA laws are in place to protect the privacy of one’s health information. Be it a school setting or hospital to protect records within either facility is a constant concern. Creating a sense of privacy is extremely critical.
While there are many different ads that are appealing to view and read in the magazines to which I choose (Time, Sports Illustrated and Cosmo for Latinos), the one that was most appealing to me was in the 2016 edition of Time Magazine. This article caught my attention immediately, it’s called “The Privacy Debate”, this article talks about the CEO of Apple Computer refusing to allow the FBI to access the phones of the San Bernardino terrorists; because he (Mr. Cook) said he believes its unconstitutional. Because of decisions to go against the will of the FBI, Mr. Cook is now battling an unsettling confrontation with the United States Government regarding those issues; but hopes to soon come to a suitable compromise in regards to consumer rights
Cookies play a significant role in our daily life, it brings lots of convenient when we use website. However, many people afraid that it will leak our privacy at the same time as it convenient to us. Although cookies are controversial, there is nothing wrong with them. The data collectors should take responsibility to protect users’ information, also users should be aware and careful when they use the website.
The internet and all technological advances give us easier communication and increase productivity, however, at what cost? The loss of one's privacy. It is okay only when it is violated for one's own protection. There are different reason, good and bad, for the loss in privacy. In 1984 the characters don't have privacy due to big brother always watching,the NSA does more snooping than securing, social media does more than connect friends, and technological advances make our lives easier.
This world has changed, even as 20 years old, I am afraid of where technology is going already everyone is glued to it; as a kid computers were new, but we didn’t care we played outside, and cell phones were for emergencies, not fun. Due to technology privacy almost doesn’t exist in this day of technology anymore, there are secret spy cameras being placed in homes by jealous friends or family; social media sites pushing you to spill your age, looks, feelings, life story, and more, and “Big Brother” and “Little Brother” everywhere. Everyone has to be careful because everywhere there is someone trying to steal someone’s identity whether the reason is for money, for legality in a new country, or even to hide a past troubled life. Privacy in the world has been, is now, and always will be extremely important. Growing up in school after getting my first cell phone I was fascinated with new technology and couldn’t wait for the next cell phone to be released. I was always highly interested in what was next, but that was then when I was a young and obvious little kid, now as a young adult in this day of age I have an entirely different feel for all of it; privacy no longer exists and technology is the primary blame.
Privacy and confidentiality are correlated with one another; however, they hold different meanings. Privacy is viewed as an autonomy ethical principle, and confidentiality relates to the fidelity principle. Ones' right to manage their personal information and whom that information may be shared with is privacy, it is an individual's right (Burkhardt & Nathaniel, 2016, p. 76).
