Hence, we would like to discuss the principle of the provision of health care system. The principles are to provide accessible, affordable and equitable service. There are over a hundred hospitals, interspersed in different districts, aiming to make health care services easily accessible to everyone in the society. In most public hospitals, the charge for qualified residents in an emergence service is only one hundred dollar, making health care service generally affordable by most of the citizens in the society. Also, there are regulations launched by the government that, no matter race, gender, age or even they are criminals or smuggled illegal alien, they have the exactly same right to receive emergence service. Showing that principle of health care provision system is accessible, affordable and equitable. Another principle of health care provision is that generally good service quality should be maintained. As the great technological advancement, citizens demand high quality medical and health care services. Therefore, it is a must for health care service provider to maintain certain service quality. Also, government should continue to be the major funder of public health care, but with some targeted subsidies to areas of greatest need. Since the government can guarantee stable medical service with its great resources and its service and finance can provide transparency to the public. And more importantly, it can guarantee that affordable services are provided to the public and everyone can gain access to it. Other than that, there should be sufficient safeguards to ensure that no one is denied adequate care due to insufficient means. It simply act as a safety net for everyone, certainly, wealthy people can choose priva... ... middle of paper ... ...se who are able and willing to pay for medical products like semi-private beds in public hospitals and also for those who are willing to pay, cost in serving can be saved. It also conform to the principle of health care provision in terms of ensuring service with generally good quality can be provided and also to focus on the areas of greatest needs in the society, in order to effectively solve the most threatening problem. However, it may not be the whole story of cost-saving measures. In some occasions, it may create burden to the patients, especially for the middle class, since they cannot afford private health care services, but they do not enjoy any subsidies or help from the government. It somehow conflict to the principle of health care provision in Hong Kong, which is to provide accessible and affordable service to the public no matter how wealthy they are.
For decades, one of the many externalities that the government is trying to solve is the rising costs of healthcare. "Rising healthcare costs have hurt American competitiveness, forced too many families into bankruptcy to get their families the care they need, and driven up our nation's long-term deficit" ("Deficit-Reducing Healthcare Reform," 2014). The United States national government plays a major role in organizing, overseeing, financing, and more so than ever delivering health care (Jaffe, 2009). Though the government does not provide healthcare directly, it serves as a financing agent for publicly funded healthcare programs through the taxation of citizens. The total share of the national publicly funded health spending by various governments amounts to 4 percent of the nation's gross domestic product, GDP (Jaffe, 2009). By 2019, government spending on Medicare and Medicaid is expected to rise to 6 percent and 12 percent by 2050 (Jaffe, 2009). The percentages, documented from the Health Policy Brief (2009) by Jaffe, are from Medicare and Medicaid alone. The rapid rates are not due to increase of enrollment but growth in per capita costs for providing healthcare, especially via Medicare.
The U.S. Constitution is a good foundation for implementing health care for people all over the world and article 1 section 8 clause 1 explains the power of government when it comes to health care. According to the Enduring Democracy book, "The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes, duties, imposts, and excises, to pay the debts and provide for the common defense and general welfare of the United States..." (Dautrich, C-5). In other words, the government has the power to allow everyone the right to health care since our taxes are already being collect for the common defense and general welfare. General welfare refers to health care in which the government may provide.
Despite the established health care facilities in the United States, most citizens do not have access to proper medical care. We must appreciate from the very onset that a healthy and strong nation must have a proper health care system. Such a health system should be available and affordable to all. The cost of health services is high. In fact, the ...
The U.S. expends far more on healthcare than any other country in the world, yet we get fewer benefits, less than ideal health outcomes, and a lot of dissatisfaction manifested by unequal access, the significant numbers of uninsured and underinsured Americans, uneven quality, and unconstrained wastes. The financing of healthcare is also complicated, as there is no single payer system and payment schemes vary across payors and providers.
Health care system is a prominent subject all over the world. Every country wants to provide the best health facilities and services to their people. Even than there are so many lapse in the health care field? As regard to U.S there are also so many short comings in the health care organizations. I have gone through and studied the background of the health care system being run by clinics, primary health care centers, and hospitals etc. People has to pay very high charges on every visit to the doctor or surgeon for medical treatments, follow-up and as indoor patients. Theses health care organizations demand plenty money and other hidden expenditures from the patients which is some time beyond the reach of the patients.
A health care system that provides free health care services to its entire citizen can be termed as universal health care. This is a situation where all citizens are protected from financial costs in health care. It is recognized around the globe as it provides a specific package of benefits to all citizens in the entire nation. For instance, free health care can result to improved health outcomes. In addition, it provides financial risk protection and an improved access to health services. There is an increasing debate on how citizen should be provided with free medical services. Although United State does not permit free health care services it should have free health care for all citizens. This is due to the fact that healthcare is the largest industry in United State. Due to the fact that United State is a rich country, it should have a healthcare system that provides free services such as treatment for its entire citizen. This will play a significant role, as it will stop medical bankruptcies in...
In America the affordability and equality of access to healthcare is a crucial topic of debate when it comes to one's understanding of healthcare reform. The ability for a sick individual to attain proper treatment for their ailments has reached the upper echelons of government. Public outcry for a change in the handling of health insurance laws has aided in the establishment of the Affordable Healthcare Law (AHCL) to ensure the people of America will be able to get the medical attention they deserve as well as making that attention more affordable, as the name states. Since its creation, the AHCL has undergone scrutiny towards its effects on the government and its people; nevertheless, the new law must not be dismantled due to its function as a cornerstone of equal-opportunity healthcare, and if such a removal is allowed, there will be possibly detrimental effects on taxes, the economy, and poor people.
According to Roy, 2013 the issues of providing the affordable care act will unite both the supporters and offenders of the public policy, but in this current situation where the input costs are rising, it will become impossible for government in managing the public policy related to affordable health care. In order to provide affordable health care, majority of the US government has tried out different policies time to time, but unable to get success in realizing the actual policy goals. By providing the affordable health care to majority of the people who requires more amount as controlling the input cost is not possible (AAMC, 2013). Lack of doctors is one of the primary issue in providing high quality health care to the citizens especially those who are financially poor. The Supreme Court of the country passed an Act related to Health insurance as all should have Health Insurance to all the country people by the year 2014, but the at the same time government is concerned about constitutionality of these act (NYTimes, 2013).
Healthcare plays an important role in almost every person’s life at one point or another. Many times, one can get caught without, or underinsured and it can be detrimental to their livelihood. With the rising cost of healthcare, it is likely that having a national healthcare policy in place, and as an individual, being able to afford and obtain adequate health insurance has not been required until now. With the new national healthcare plan, it is required for all citizens to obtain and maintain some sort of public or private insurance policy. The rising costs can be attributed to many things. A significant reason for the astronomical cost of health care is because of the staggering amount of uninsured or underinsured individuals receiving medical attention and almost many never paying the bill. Those who do have insurance have seen a gradual increase in their premiums and deductibles to make up for this.
In the United States of America, there are millions of individuals that live with chronic medical problems. In which these conditions require some sort of medical attention at least once a month for revaluation, and possible treatment. Thankfully, for the majority of those individuals with their health insurance covers those costs that essentially would cripple their bank accounts. On the contrary, there are millions of people living in the United States, who are uninsured. Even with the implementation of the Affordable Care Act or as it is known by the public Obama Care, there are still individuals who cannot afford the basic needs of healthcare. Health care should not be looked at as a privilege but a right for everyone regardless of their
Access to health does not only relate to how available the services are but also how they are delivered at the point of care. People should have access to equity healthcare which means the provision of fair goods and services and opportunities needed for the physical, psychological and spiritual health (McGibbon, Etowa & McPherson, 2008). These health services can be made available through the creation of more public clinics and hospitals. Several studies done in developing countries indicates that introducing medical user fees leads to reducing utilization which tends to affect the poor (CSDH, 2008).
Certain individuals possess insurance while others are helped by the government. On the other hand there are people who need work in a rigorous way so that they can get access to health care but this is in vain as the costs are too high (McNutt 14). The author further instigates the argument that if there were not so many lawsuits within the nation, then so much cost wouldn’t have been charged by the doctors and more people would have managed to go visit the doctor when they require the same. The stance of the author in the article was in favour of the argument that yes free universal health care is a key necessity. The recommendation offered by the author was to make health care free as well as not free in the sense that people should not pay for something that is threatening and they should pay for something that is not threatening their
Healthcare access is a worldwide issue that people can agree is an important topic. Whether the discussion is about how we access healthcare in the U.S. through different approaches like private or single payer, or countries that are struggling to provide basic healthcare needs to their citizens, it takes considerable effort and focus to tackle this issue.
This paper discusses why healthcare should be rationed, how the resources should be saved to reduce healthcare cost without forgoing quality and access to healthcare. In the U.S. since there is no universal healthcare system, people are dependent of healthcare insurance through their employer. As long as they have jobs there is no worry about healthcare. This is not the case with people who cannot afford basic healthcare and have to be dependent on government programs. Most of the providers don not accept Medicaid patients and very few procedures and services are covered through Medicare and Medicaid. The paper also proposes few policy changes the government must introduce to make healthcare affordable for all.
Healthcare being the biggest topic in the United States today every American must consider the good, bad and the ugly of our American health system. In a perfect world, it would be ideal if all our needs are met without any significances of responsibilities, but that is wishful thinking, because as the old saying goes nothing is free, somebody paid for it.
