Journal #1 Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen POV: Elizabeth I went to a ball the other day with my sisters and it was quite eventful! Jane hit it off with a man named Mr. Bingley, who is quite a gentleman. He tried to set me up with a man named Mr. Darcy, but he was quite rude. He basically said that I was not pretty enough for him! How dare he be! While I would never compare myself to Jane and her beauty, I know my worth! I felt quite offended and wished I could have been unladylike and spoke my mind at that moment! I laughed with others about Mr. Darcy’s behavior and they seemed rather disturbed by my experience. Everyone was worried that Jane would get sick, and unfortunately, they were right. I was deeply worried about Jane, so I walked three miles to the Bingleys to ensure Jane was alright. It was quite thrilling and a great exercise to journey on my own. I was free from the opinions of my mother and the rest of society (for a little bit at least). I rather surprised everyone with my appearance, with my state and the weather. Miss Bingley and the other ladies around tended to Jane greatly. I was put quite at ease when I saw this and knew that this was a great place for her to be. None of the ladies (nor I for that matter) left her side for a moment! Jane was diagnosed with a bad cold and felt very ill, but I was hopeful that she would get better. When Mr. Birngley returned home, he was very worried for Jane. He was quite anxious than I expected! I was rather pleasantly shocked by this behavior. He was also the only one I felt at ease with in that household. The rest of the family made me feel like an intruder visiting my (quite sick) sister.
