I fancy reading Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, her utmost brilliant novel, because she composed a story that is timeless and analogous to everyone who takes the time to read it. While reading this story you get sucked into the time period, the character's lives and you feel as though you are living it with them. The novel takes place in Longbourn, in rural England, some point during the Napoleonic Wars, 1797 to 1815. Virtually, the plot of Pride and Prejudice consists of Elizabeth Bennent and Mr. Darcy defeating all obstacles given to them, and finding true love in each other.
All of the characters in Pride and Prejudice are absolutely different, but in some way they are the same. Elizabeth Bennent, the protagonist, one of the most well-known female characters in English literature. The second daughter of the Bennet family, she is thought to be about 20 years old. Her honesty, virtue and lively wit enable her to rise above the absurdity that pervade her class driven society. She must reevaluate her prior impressions of Mr. Darcy, and find the truth, that she is completely and utterly in love with him. Fitzwilliam Darcy, Elizabeth’s male counterpart, the son of a wealthy, well-established family and the master of the great estate of Pemberley. Mr. Darcy comes off as haughty and proud, this results because of his high birth and wealth. When Elizabeth rejects his marriage proposal, it builds humility in him; because of this, he shows his true feelings when he rescues her sister and family from disgrace. Jane, Elizabeth’s sister and Charles Bingley, Mr. Darcy’s best friend, enter into a courtship that occupies the central place in the novel, they become a couple long before Elizabeth even thinks about Mr. Darcy. ...r life and how it turned out, particularly Elizabeth and Jane. Pride and Prejudice was recently turned into a blockbuster film, the cast portrayed the character from the great novel extraordinarily. I saw the movie before I read the book, the movie was wonderful and I loved it. After I saw the movie I decided to read the book to see how it stacked up to the film, the book has greater detail than the film, but they are both excellent. Anyone who has seen the movie should definitely read the book.

England, under James 1st rule was a vastly altered period compared to our now modern society. So many of the values held during this time, have now been discarded and forgotten. Jane Austen grew up in the Romantic period and experienced a world which was divided, whether through education, class, status, fashion, abilities, gender and etiquette. Her novel, Pride and Prejudice is counted as one of the great classics of English Literature. Austen engrosses readers to live in her world for a time and experience a society filled with matchmaking, romance, marriage and gossip. Every one of her characters is so distinctive and has a clearly outlined caricature. Each of their diverse values conveys a different thinking of the time. Pride and Prejudice is preoccupied with the gentry and most of the social aspects which consumed these people’s lives. There were so many expectations of how you would behave in public, but of course not all of these were upheld. Elizabeth Bennet, Mr Darcy, Mrs Bennet and Charlotte Lucas are four characters which keep such strong beliefs about the social norms. These characters are expressed so descriptively and through their personalities readers can learn just how the numerous social standards were received.

Jane’s and Mr.Bingley’s relationship continued and on her way to visit him she gets sick and Elizabeth walks all the way to the Bingley’s house to take care of her sister.
Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austen, is a remarkable story showing the complications between men and women before and during their time of falling in love. The plot is based on how the main characters, Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy, escape their pride, prejudice and vanity to find each other; however, both must recognize their faults and change them. Jane Austen follows the development of Elizabeth’s and Darcy’s relationship in how they both change in order to overcome their own vanities and be able to love each other.
Even after its publication in 1813 Jane’s Austen’s romantic and wonderfully written masterpiece, Pride and Prejudice, remains an absolute joy to read for thousands and thousands of readers across the globe. The 19th century novel enchants the youngest of readers to the wisest of souls. Many individuals all over the world, very much like us as university students here at Villanova, are quite intrigued by the amazingly created characters, impressively dynamic portrayal of an oppressively class-bound culture, and the vitality of a strong woman at the center of the novel. Jane Austen presents the reader with the most tantalizing and illustrious opening sentence, which enamors the reader and never lets go. "It is a truth universally acknowledged,

“The book was better” is the mundane response when inquiring as to books and their respective film adaptations. Pride and Prejudice is no exception. Written by Jane Austen in 1813, Pride and Prejudice reflects the protagonist, Elizabeth Bennett, and her ideal match, Fitzwilliam Darcy, as they struggle to overcome their differences, and obstacles otherwise existing within the accompanying characters (social hierarchy, jealousy, selfishness). Elizabeth’s realization and acceptance of Darcy’s true goodness leads her to overcome her harsh, initial prejudice of him and Darcy’s tempering of his pride throughout the novel allow him to eventually applaud, and love Elizabeth for her strong-character. Hence the title: Pride and Prejudice. The film adaptation
In Pride and Prejudice, Austen portrays a women’s struggle within a society that stresses the importance of marriage and strict behavioral customs. As evidenced by the Bennett daughters Elizabeth and Jane, as well as Charlotte Collins, marriage for young women was a pursuit that dominated their lives. The much acclaimed novel, Pride and Prejudice, was written during the Regency Period (1790-1820). The Regency period is often overlooked because it is caught in the middle of two prominent time periods: The Georgian/ Baroque period and the Romantic/ Victorian period. Although brief, the Regency period made a lasting impact, because the early nineteenth century produced some of the most significant art and literature pieces of all time.
I believe it was also made for people who were fans of “chick lit” or were familiar with Pride and Prejudice. I believe it was very popular at the time to have stories that brought up love, feminism and the working women. This adaptation worked because it was relatable to the readers and even if they have not gone through something like Bridget they could connect it to their life somehow. I think that it worked because of the diary like set up which made it an easy and quick read and it was full of comedy and it was enjoyable to read. As previously mentioned, I think this adaptation did well because it was released around the same time as the BBC Pride and Prejudice.
