The Presidential Election
The biggest news that’s happening in America now is the Presidential election. With the two candidates head and head people can hardly tell who’s going to win. The two candidates include, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. The latest news according to USA TODAY, “ Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are in a virtual tie in a national poll, which was released on Thursday.” Many people want Donald Trump to win because they think that he’s going to make America better and also they think that he knows how to stop the Muslims from blowing up America. Donald Trump made so many promises during his speech, he says that “he knows how to make America great again, he has a lot of money and business so he knows how to run America.” These were all promises but he never says anything about how he’s going to do it. Hillary Clinton makes promises but she thinks about people when she makes those promises. Her speech that she made was to convince people to vote for her and that she’ll help

He throws people off by discriminating them and hurting their feelings, he hardly put himself in someone shoes. Even though he doesn’t do these things people believe his words. Words can be put into action, but they should actually listen to him without him making so many promises. “Promises are made to be broken,” so while he’s making those promises people should think of that quote. Donald Trump might not make a good speech but, he does know a lot about business, but that’s not all a president should know, a president should know how to talk to someone without hurting their feeling or discriminating them. According to USA Today, “Trump leads the presidential election with men by, 50%-39%, Trump also leads Clinton with white voters by, 51%-40%. Trump is doing great for his first time running, he’s impressing a lot of people. He makes speech and tries his best people honor that in a
Despite the overwhelming critics, Texas remains one of several states that keep supporting the concept of partisan judicial elections, where voters cast a straight-ticket vote. In fact, electing judges by the public leads to a number of ethical problems which necessarily require compromise between judicial integrity and independence. Most of the allegations of wrong-doing have caused a number of professional and citizen groups to become disaffected with the existing system.
Presidential power has become a hot topic in the media the in recent years. There has been extensive debate about what a president should be able to do, especially without the involvement of Congress and the American people. While this debate has become more publicized since the Bush administration, similar issues of presidential power date back to Truman and the Korean War. As with much of the structure of the U.S. government, the powers of the president are constantly evolving with the times and the executives.
The Electoral College is an outdated and unrealistic arrangement that caters to eighteenth century federalist America in a way that is detrimental to modern democracy. The electoral college gives too much power to the government, overlooks equal representation, and creates loopholes that do not serve to help America thrive.
Every 20th of January, the United States undergoes the passing of power from one president, to another. On this specific election, Donald J. Trump was elected as president. He has received much criticism from opposition, but much praise from his supporters. Although a very controversial person, Trump gave a great speech that was based on uniting the people as one. Trump used multiple rhetorical strategies such as repetition, pauses in speech, and listing are just a few of them. Adding hints of populism, his speech was one that touched many citizens. While very controversial, Trump’s inauguration speech was one that was based on the people, not the elite, about bringing back what made America great, and uniting everyone as one.
In the Electoral College system, every state has one electoral vote for each congressman and senator. Congressman is allotted by population and every state has two senators, so Rhode Island, which has basically nobody in it, has three electoral votes. California, with 53 representatives and two senators, has 55 electoral votes. The states choose electors and the electors meet in what is called the Electoral College to pick a president. In practice, nearly every state has passed a law that the electors will all vote for the popular vote winner in their state, but as the Supreme Court said in Bush v. Gore, the people of the United States do not have a constitutional right to pick the president. A state could, if it felt like it, select the electors
First of all, Donald Trump is a businessman-not a politician. He received his degree in Economics/Real Estate from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Finance. In 2007, Forbes Magazine reported his annual earnings in entertainment alone to be $32 million. This would have meant a significant pay cut, had he become United States President. Currently, he is the producer and star of “The Apprentice,” which has been on air since 2004 (“The Apprentice”). He holds multiple offices at the Trump Organization, and is also a chairman of Trump Hotels and Casino Resorts, Incorporated (Project Vote Smart). Donald Trump has put his name on products and companies both successful and unsuccessful, including food products, corporations, and a clothing line. Trump once stated that “The stuff that’s been sent over from China falls apart after a year and a half. It’s crap.” Ironically, the majority of his products are manufactured in China (Webley, 8). How can we expect a man to keep in touch with an entire country when he can hardly keep in touch with his own business? Donald Trump has had some other losses in business as well, including a failed airline business and multiple bankruptcies in his casinos, among other lost investments. (Webley, 3).
As the United States of America gets older, so does the presidential election voting system. The argument to change this method of voting has been becoming more and more popular as the years go on. It has been said that the Framers of the Constitution came up with this method because of the bad transportation, communication, and they feared the public’s intelligence was not suitable for choosing the President of the United States. Others say that the Framers made this method because they feared that the public did not receive sufficient information about candidates outside of their state to make such a decision based on direct popular vote. My research on this controversial issue of politics will look into the factors into why the Electoral College exists and if it is possibly outdated for today’s society. It will look into the pros and cons of this voting system, and it will explore the alternative methods of voting such as the Direct Popular vote. Many scholarly authors have gathered research to prove that this voting system is outdated and it does not accurately represent the national popular will. Many U.S. citizens value their vote because they only get one to cast towards the candidate of their choice in the presidential election. Based on the Electoral College system their vote may possibly not be represented. Because of today’s society in the U.S. the Electoral College should be abolished because it is not necessary to use a middle-man to choose our president for us. It is a vote by the people, all of us having one voice, one vote.
Donald Trump has been a bad influence to the United States that doesn’t deserve to be president. The entire thing he has done during his running doesn’t show that is able to be president. Trump is an arrogant person that doesn’t deserve to be president and doesn’t deserve to be able to run a country; he is acting like a child he is not mature to run for
In the midst of one of the most controversial presidential elections in history, both political parties are struggling to prove that their candidate is the best choice. Clinton and Trump’s disapproval ratings are very low, but one has to ask, is there really a lesser evil to choose from? While Clinton has had her own fair share of past discrepancies, Trump’s track record proves much more troublesome. Donald Trump has proven to be an untrustworthy presidential candidate because of his misogynistic actions, his racial bias, and his corrupt business history.
His language in the debate, like most of the time, was very simple and to the point. When speaking, he went for an “intense” (Media Literacy 342) tone of voice and word choice. He consistently used negative words such as: losing, stealing, and leaving to instill fear to the public. These simple words effectively got his message of negativity across to the public effectively. In using this intense technique, Trump presumably wanted the public to believe that he was extremely serious. For example, when he addressed terrorism, he claimed he will “...knock the hell out of ISIS” (First Presidential Debate). Trump’s simple and non “politically correct” language persuades some voters because they can relate to him. He succeeded on his part of sounding intense and aggressive. However, in my opinion his language in the debate was unprepared and somewhat uneducated compared to Clinton’s. In wanting to become president, Trump’s simple words and sentences should have been more complex. His words did not impress me and did not persuade me into believing in what he was
Meanwhile, he makes numerous promises to American citizens saying he will immediately solve all the issues caused by illegal immigrants under the enforcement of his new policies once he wins the presidency. Trump tries to gain possibility of winning the presidency with his speech using demagoguery. However, some of Trump’s solutions and promises toward illegal immigration problems appear to be quite extreme. For example, he repeatedly states that he will deport all illegal immigrants the very first day and hour when he steps into office: “Day one, my first hour in office, those people are gone”(The New York Times Par. 60) Moreover, he points out the flaws of Barack Obama’s presidency and Hilary Clinton’s policies toward illegal immigration and criminal aliens, promising his audience that he would be more decisive and would take immediate action toward these problems. With several demagogic rhetorical strategies, Trump wins many applauses and supports by saying words that American people want to hear during his presidential campaign. Trump’s speech toward immigration does address certain elements of demagoguery such as victimization,
The 2016 election cycle has been one for the history books. For the Democrats, we have Hillary Clinton, the first female Democratic nominee and proclaimed liar and murderer. The right has indicted her in the death of those involved in Benghazi, and they have continued to slam her for her private email server and deletion of thirty thousand emails. On the right, we have business mogul Donald Trump. He is a self-proclaimed womanizer, and he is ready to build a wall, and make Mexico pay for it. From many Americans eyes, this is an election in which we will elect the ‘lesser of two evils’. As the days until the election continue to dwindle, we are beginning to really consider the dark question that has been looming above our heads for months—who is going to win the election?
This upcoming election is very unlike any past elections. Although they’re two candidates from both Republicans and Democrats, no one really knows who to choose. Both candidates aren’t what most would say, “what the country is in need of” because they both have pasts that most would wish were forgotten. What they say and what they do affects how the people look at them causing everyone to believe that no matter who they choose the country is doomed. Whether Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton win, the country is in for a rude awakening that’s going to cause our country to go down the drain.
He doesn't care what's politically correct and what's not. I think the fact he ran for president shows that he really just wants to help fix America after so many bad politicians messed it up. Yes some of the things he says are outrageous but you can't blame him. Look at his age, the way he grew up. The 60’s and 50’s were times when racism and sexism were problems. But back to the point... Trump wants to "make America great again". Although...If you’re still mad about his plan to build a wall.... Let me just says this. Look at your backyard. Many Americans have a fence in their backyard. Now let me ask you, what does that fence do? It keeps people out right? It keeps your yard YOUR YARD. You keep what you want in it. You put what you don't want out on the streets. Your backyard is where you feel safe because you know that this is yours. This is what trump wants to do. He wants to have America be something where we can all say it's like your
Trump is trying to distract the people from understanding the objective truth by calling names and making false claims. This is dangerous because objective truth about the world is pivotal for us as citizens of a democratic nation, who all have a voice in the manner in which our government conducts itself. When Trump attempts to distract us from the truth, he is attempting to prevent us from accurately participating in the government. Trump also has many common words that he recycles.
