Many programs develop a preliminary or initial treatment plan upon the client's admission to a program before a comprehensive assessment has been completed. The preliminary treatment plan starts the treatment process and is derived from the initial interview, intake assessment,ad other psycho social evaluations. The preliminary treatment plan defines the clients areas of concern and determines the severity of each problem to identify the clients immediate needs.it may involve drafting an abstinence contract and a schedule of treatment activities, such as establishing a time frame for the completion of a comprehensive assessment.Preliminary treatment plans outline an initial recovery strategy to support the client during initial treatment. The client begins to consider that he or she may want to overcome the problem, but at best, remains ambivalent about change. The preliminary plan is also an important tool for monitoring client motivation for treatment and relapse warning signs. It should specify and set time frames for any further diagnostic tests, procedures, systematic observations, or additional information needed. Preparation of the preliminary treatment plan is a collaborative effort between the service provider and the client, mapping out the changes a client wishes to make and respecting the client's right to self-determination and informed consent. The client has no intention to change. Often this is due to a lack of awareness. Typically, the client will present to substance abuse services in this stage because of outside influences; however, the client does not recognize the situation as their problem. A review of the literature reveals no clear-cut definition of harm reduction. Most experts are in agreement, however, that the primary emphasis of harm reduction strategies is to reduce the health, social, and economic consequences associated with alcohol and drug use. Implicitly or explicitly, complete abstinence is the goal of the vast majority of substance abuse service providers (MacMaster, 2004). Although harm reduction strategies value completely refraining from addictive substances, the approach embraces a wide range of goals not limited to abstinence. The harm reduction model employs strategies for extending the scope of treatment to substance users for whom abstinence oriented treatment may not be appropriate. When people are unwilling or unable to embrace abstinence, alternatives to abstinence based treatment have been shown to increase the well-being of both individuals and communities.

The reason for her to work at ChiChi’s is to bust the city’s top drug tycoon, Miguel Martinez.
There are many contributing factors and political issues that address substance abuse. Throughout the years, many researchers have designed many interventions and social policies designed to treat people who have used, abused, and became addicted to substances. Today, there are many new studies that address substance abuse at the individual, group, family, and community or policy levels. Today, there are many services that are effective for decreasing recidivism in youth who have completed a substance abuse program. A substance abuse treatment program or center is the best way to treat individuals who have abused substances.
The consequences that follow the use of any drug are unfavorable. Although many individuals may see drug addiction as a mere lifestyle choice, it is a problem that many individuals suffer from and inevitably a growing issue that leaves major social and economic impacts.
Federal and state laws, including Public Law 94-142 and the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA), require that children with emotional, behavioral, and learning disorders be given a diagnosis in order to receive the needed services and accommodations (Neukrug & Fawcett, 2015). An clinical diagnosis is also necessary when requesting reimbursement from managed care organizations and insurance companies, as they will base the number of authorized therapy sessions on the diagnosis and treatment plan goals. The DSM -5 is an important tool in determining a client’s diagnosis and should be used in combination with clinical interviews, family assessments, and standardized assessment instruments when developing a treatment plan (Neukrug & Fawcett, 2015).
Nobody denies that every client and situation is unique, but there is a general layout out of a treatment plan that can be used thought out the facility to ensure success for the client. The first step in the treatment plan is to screen clients to determine if he/she meets the criteria of the facilities drug, or alcohol program. The facility will use the standard CAGE, of the Substance Abuse Subtitle Screening Inventory questioner as a screening tool. These two screening tools are consist of few questions and require only short answers to determine (American Society of Addiction Medicine, 2012). These tools are easy to use and can be done by any qualified staff according to the ASAM. If more through information is needed then the client will go under an assessment.

These individuals devote themselves completely to certain substance that allows them to forget about their reality and leads them into a world of ecstasy, one which they are unable to reach without it. Continuously, their addiction takes over their lives and turns them into "slaves" of the substance causing their lives to fall apart and eventually leads to being homeless, in jail, or dead. However, there are other forms of addiction whether is a mild addiction and not as severe as drugs or alcohol but it still falls under its definition. Some examples of addictions that we do not notice are pornography, internet, television, eating, entertainment, and money. Most of these examples have their own negative aspects. Also, others might have a dependency on unhealthy eating habits which eventually leads to their bodies suffering from a broad range of medical conditions. Others also tend to create a dependency on shopping and spending money on unnecessary materials. Lastly, some individuals also have bad habits that involve constant lying and deceiving. All of these examples are just a few of the things that fall under the umbrella of what an addiction truly is and each has a negative connotation to it. Yes, some might disagree with certain examples given but truth is we each have our own addictions we just try to hide them and point out the addictions of others instead of helping
Medical treatment plan can only be effective if a team of experienced, expert and culturally competent and qualified clinicians, social workers, psychologists and psychiatrists all work together to create a treatment plan for the patient with the patients input and have alternative treatment in place such as spirituality and yoga, with family and friends involvement to provide love and support for the patient (Chapman, Gratz and Hoffman, 2007).
I have been at my site for about four weeks now and I have been able to see all my clients that were assigned to me. Currently I am getting more familiar with the system and have four clients, who I am seeing now (three are “telecounseling” and one is “in person”). I am also a part of a process group (one of my professional interests). I am hoping to keep my caseload to four for now and possibly pick up one more “in person” client later in the semester if needed. I am now getting into the routine of using the telecounseling system and starting to think about my treatment planning because I will have to create my treatment plans this week to present to my clients. At our site, we present the treatment plan between the third and fourth session.
