18 December MMXVII God and Prayer Back In Schools As students we start each day with the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag, we should also start each day with a quick word of PRAYER!
As a country, we are moving farther and farther away from the principles and values in which this great country was founded and established upon.
It is in GOD we trust! What better way to recognize that than to communicate with God and express our appreciation and petition continued Mercy, Strength and Direction?
It just makes sense to pray and intercede daily on behalf of those in authority; our President and his council/ staff, every elected official, our Armed Forces/ Military, Schools and Educators, Health and Safety Personnel (Police, Fire, EMT, etc.) and our Worldwide Family.
We must remember what has made

I am a teenager who seeks and lives for God I feel it is a right for us Christians to have God and prayers back in school. Not everyone has to do it. At Least allow those who want to pray in school.
Unfair relativism was added and now there is no absolute wrong or right. I feel that other religions and beliefs have more rights and are able to thrash us Christians down.
There is so much bad in the schools know and days they call what's wrong right and what's right wrong.
II. How has it affected my Generation and other Generations
As a teenager I see so much evil and things that could be avoided. There was never as much school shootings back in 1800's neither 1900's as there is in the 2000's.
Even Statics show when god was taken out of the schools everything went downhill. Statics show Criminal arrest of teens is up 150% according to the US Bureau of Census.
Teen suicides in ages 15-19 years skyrocketed 450% according to the National Center of Health Services; illegal drug activity is up 6000% according to the National Institute of
The issue of prayer in school cannot be dealt with in a manner that will please everyone. The main thing that needs to be stressed is that tolerance of other people and their beliefs is the only true way to ensure that everyone has freedom and equality in America. Until that day comes there will always be groups of people who cause disruption in our schools and take away from what the focus really should be: quality education and an understanding of others as well.
Praying in school was first addressed in the Supreme Court in 1962 in the Engle v. Vitale case. The Establishment Clause inserted and stated Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion. The court ruled the Union Free School District in Hyde Park, NY had violated the First Amendment by directing the principals to cause the following prayer to be said aloud by each class in the presence of a teacher at the beginning of each school day: “Almighty God, we acknowledge our dependence upon Thee, and we beg thy blessings upon us, our parents, our teachers and our Country” (Longley, "Public"). I agree with the court ruling because not all students in a classroom share the same beliefs. To cause everyone to say this prayer surely violates their rights.
Schools have become less safe. People blame either bad parenting or video games. Bullying is another factor as to why students end up shooting at schools and then ending their own life. It is so tragic and must be stopped.
It is argued that there isn’t a way for every religion to be recognized within the public schools to accommodate everyone without offending anyone. It just isn’t a possibility to incorporate a sense of a “prayer service” that meets everyone’s needs without completely throwing off the school day’s curriculum and without making a form of an offense.
Students are guaranteed the right to pray, as long as it is not disruptive, and it is not promoted during classroom hours. Not only are these permitted, they are actually protected forms of speech under the U.
I could just as easily have recited the Lord’s Prayer, which I also knew by heart, though my church attendance was sporadic. Or I could have led them through “Do Not Go Gentle Into that Good Night,” but it never seemed to fit the day’s events. So every day, I pledged allegiance to the flag. Their flag. Amen.
Daily voluntary school prayer should be re-instated in public schools due to three reasons, the historical basis of the beginning of the United States government, the serious moral decline since prayer has been outlawed, and the government infringement on the constitutional guarantee of individual freedom of personal beliefs. First, a student should be allowed to pray voluntarily at the beginning of each school day because the United States government was originally based on Christian principles. The Declaration of Independence, a document written to express the mission and purpose of this new country, states, ? We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal, that God endows them, with certain unalienable rights?..? Credit for the rights that Americans hold dear is given to God, the Creator, by the founding fathers of this Nation.
Prayer in School: Good or Bad? As secular humanists and groups like the Christian Coalition are at war with each other regarding prayer in high schools behind closed doors in Washington DC, the average high school kid is the one that gets caught in the middle. For years now there has been a heated debate about whether or not prayer should be allowed in school. Every time the argument is rekindled, it ends in a stalemate, and is a topic that campaigning politicians tend to stay away from.
Schools in some states had prayer in the beginning of the day led by a school official. A New York state law required the Pledge of Allegiance under God and recognizing the dependence upon God. Also, the state of Arkansas also had a similar

I recently had a discussion with my grandmother about the public education system and the morning prayer. She told me when she was a student they always did the morning prayer and then she asked me if students today still take part in the morning prayer. To which I replied no. Nowadays religion isn’t as formal as it used to be. Today people wear yoga pants to church compared to people wearing their Sunday best as they used to. During high school, we don’t say the Pledge of Allegiance anymore. So it wouldn’t make a difference if we added the Pledge and the prayer. Upon doing research on this topic I learned some Americans are in favor of having a prayer during the day and during graduation ceremonies in public schools. The school can’t perform sponsored prayer during these events. But personal prayer is never outlawed in public schools allowing students for a certain amount of the day to be set aside. As we progress toward the future, society tends to be less formal therefore prayer seems more like a mandatory action rather than a voluntary action. In the olden days where you could choose to take part in the activity compared to having it being forced down your throat.
In 1996, more teenagers and young adults died of suicide than from cancer, heart disease, AIDS, birth defects, stroke, pneumonia and influenza, and chronic lung disease combined.
School prayer is a very controversial issue in today’s society. This issue has been a problem since America was first founded, in that the country was founded on religious beliefs. The Pilgrims wanted to be able to express their beliefs freely, but in England this freedom was not found, so they decided to come to the Americas, where their beliefs could be expressed freely. As time passed they realized that having this kind of freedom caused problems between different belief systems. Many people started questioning the founding of their nation and what the foundation was made of. This questioning is still going on today and people are torn between letting prayer in to the public school system or keeping it out.
Prayer is so powerful that we don’t even realise what it can do for others and our own lives. The physical world is always effected by what’s happening in the spiritual world first so prayer is the place to go!
Many of the students who participated claimed that the prayer helped direct their attention to what needed to be accomplished in class that day. In addition, he found that having a teacher pray for his or her students, or having a student pray for the other students, can produce a sense of unity in the classroom. Students will feel loved and cared for resulting in a classroom atmosphere that exudes positivity. One student said, “I am not a religious person by any means (I 'm an atheist), but I appreciated the way a prayer at the beginning of class ended all conversations and focused the students on the subject at hand. I equate it to turning down the house-lights at a concert hall to make the audience shut up and listen” (Grenardo, 2014, p. 50). This is an excellent example because the student is not religious at all, but he or she felt like the prayer really got the class’s attention focused on the upcoming tasks. This student was not offended by the prayer because it was not said in a way that made him or her feel excluded or unloved, it was a simple prayer that expressed a wish for the students to be able to learn and succeed. Prayers not only help focus the students’ attention, but evidence has been shown that it also has positive effects on their
