• Today, almost half of the South Africans are living below the poverty/bread line.

• The main cause of poverty in South Africa is the lasting effects of apartheid. People didn’t get proper education and skills training during the apartheid era. As a result, most of them are unemployed because with the lack of proper education and skills, they can’t find jobs that will give them the means to a better life.

The results of this research showhow South Africa faces many challenges when it comes to poverty and education. Education is the most important industry in South Africa and it is being treated like a priority. Many social issues, for example poverty, have an influence on education and makes it and even bigger challenge. The businesses in the education industry have to deal with many challenges, caused by poverty. It is difficult to adapt and/or to deal with these challenges, especially in the macro environment because there is no control over the elements of the macro environment. However, these schools should consider the above solutions to these challenges as they could be helpful.
Although poverty has minimized, it is still significant poverty which is characterized by a numerous amount of things. Over one billion people are living in poverty, lacking safe water, housing, food, and the ability to read. There is a high concentration of communities in poverty in Africa; particularly Central Africa. States that are considered in Central Africa are the following: Cameroon, Democratic Republic of Congo, Central Republic of Africa, Chad, Equatorial Guinea and the Congo. The majority of these Central African states’ economies are dependent on agriculture. As a result of this dependency, natural disasters, droughts and wars can displace subsistence farmer from their land resulting in poverty becoming even more prevalent and harder to come back from. Also with a history of dependency on farming there tends to be the trend of education not being a primary focus for the youth which is another factor into the stagnant poverty trend in Central Africa.
Education is another factor which is the main cause of this poverty and many more other problems. Lack of education in Africa is due to lack of schools and education facilities. The school enrollment rate is also very less in Africa, which make people illiterate and thus living their life under the poverty line as they could not able to earn a sophisticated earning for them and their family. 33 million school age children do not go to school and from those the higher amount is of girls. This lack of education also leads to many diseases as they do not attend school and does not get any knowledge and precautions regarding diseases.
To begin, there are two main types of poverty in the world, non-income and income poverty (ZPRP). Non Income Poverty is when people may have money, but only a little to keep themselves alive (ZPRP). They don’t have the money to afford physical services and social events such as schooling, work, medicines, health care, sanitation, and transportation (ZPRP). The best way to condense the cause of non-income poverty is to make sure that individuals have access to inexpensive and exceptional social services, that they feel safe when in their homes and that they have family and friends to protect them when needed (ZPRP). Income poverty is when people are living on less than 1 dollar a day, which is far from the normal amount a family can survive on (ZPRP). They tend to not have fresh food and water, medicine, live in poor houses, sometimes no houses, and have dirty and ragged clothes (ZPRP). Just as there are many types of poverty, there are many effects to it to.
I think quality education is essential to pass the phase of poverty in the world. With quality education, children will get the knowledge as well as the life skills required to get to know what their capable of achieving, and how to turn their life to the path which they want to go to. Some organizations like Teachers Resource Organization (TRC) helps in training teachers, building schools, paying for school requirements, and basic school necessities. Organizations like these also help in throwing down the barriers which prevent children from attending
