One country that had imperialism was India. By the mid-1880s, the British East India Company controlled three fifths of India. The cause of British domination was that the land was very diverse and the people could not unite and that the British either paid local princes or used weapons to get control. Positive effects of imperialistic rule in India were that the British set up a stronger economy and more powerful industries. They built roads and railroads. British rule brought peace and order to the countryside. They revised the legal system to promote justice for the Indians regardless of class. Indian landowners and princes, who still owned territory grew rich from exporting cash crops such as cotton and jute. The British introduced the telegraph and the postal system as a means of communication. These improvements and benefits from British rule eventually lead to Indian nationalism. The exposure to European ideas caused an Indian nationalist movement, the people dreamed of ending Imperial ...

Another positive effect can be read on documents 1 and 5. These documents show how both the oppressors and oppressed benefit from getting new resources such as raw m...

American Imperialism began at the start of the 19th Century, but many Americans had different views on whether Imperialism was proper and legal. Many Americans at the turn of the century believed that bringing new nations into the United States was proper, and necessary to improve America. Legally Imperialism violated the Constitution, and it contradicted statements in the Declaration of Independence and Washington 's Farewell Address. American Imperialism was right deemed proper because it involved the idea of Social Darwinism, and it helped improve American Industries. The need to obtain land to increase trading and materials lead to many countries such as England, France, and Germany to take control of most of Africa and Asia for industrial
British imperialism on India had many positive and negative affects on both the mother country, Britain and the colony, India. Many people would argue which effects were more prominent in these countries and some would agree that they were equal. But in both cases there were actually both.
As the United States grew in power, so did her ideas of expansion. The foreign powers were beginning to move out of their continents and seek land in other countries. The United States soon followed. They followed in their founder’s footsteps and tried to occupy lands in the far seas. However, in the beginning, this need for more land was called Manifest Destiny. This idea claimed that God was forcing them to occupy the new western lands. The expansionism that occurred in the late 1800’s was not a result of Manifest Destiny, and thus this "new" idea of expansionism was different from the expansionism ideas of early America. For the most part, the United States’ need for more land was primarily to keep other nations (mainly European powers) out of the western hemisphere. However the United States began to see reason behind change towards the "new" expansionistic ideas.

The definition of imperialism is, “The conquering of foreign territories by powerful countries for natural resources and markets”. There are also different forms of imperialism, and they are called colonies, protectorates, and spheres of influence. Imperialism had its negative effects, but the positive definitely outweighed the bad.
Imperialism was where they took over a country through force. They took over a country by using military force and stuff like that. If you ever took over a country then you were considered and Imperialist country. It doesn’t matter what country as long as it’s not your country and you take it over your a Imperialist. Imperialism was good because they spread transportation, spread language and religion, and there was also access to free resources. Main point 1 transportation spreading. Main point 2 language and religion spreading. Main point 3 is access to free resources. All of these will be talked about in this essay.
Imperialism is a policy of expanding a country’s power by using diplomacy and military force. Imperialism is usually against with weak or undeveloped countries by another country which is more developed. Many people think that the imperialism helps the nation to develop. The people of the nation who impose imperialism to other nation will most likely see imperialism as a positive way, however people of the weaker think see it as negative. Thus, imperialism is sometimes positive or sometimes negative, it depends on where you are from and your beliefs. Even though imperialism can help both nations, stronger nations would have more benefits from imperialism than the weak nations. So while it helps the stronger on, it can hinder the lives of the people of the weaker nation. I believe that the imperialism has negative effects more than the positive ones.
The way of Imperialism took place in the 1500s took over the Americas. About three hundred years later, the new Imperialism was initiated when European power decided to colonize India and Africa and put economic pressure on China and Japan. Imperialism is when the stronger nation took over the weaker nations. This mean the motherland will conquer the weaker country and make it into a colony. Colonies were used for natural resources and new markets. The British were able to conquer others due to their technology more advanced than China Africa and India. England needed to keep their factories busy imperialism represented an expression of nationalism social Darwinism started making people feel superior than others.
Dictionary.com defines imperialism as, “the policy of extending the rule or authority of an empire or nation over foreign countries, or of acquiring or holding colonies and dependencies”. Imperialism was well in the minds of the United States in the late 1800s. Many people were leaning towards Imperialism in the United States because of many different reasons. However, there were also people in the United States that were against Imperialism: the Anti-imperialists. These Anti-imperialists did not favor the thought of expanding the United States into other territories and disagreed the ideas of having trading ties with many different countries.
Imperialism was beneficial for the Europeans. Imperialism benefited them because sanitation and education improved. The population had started to grow and transportation had started to develop. However, imperialism was damaging for Africans because they had been forced into labor. Men and women had different jobs. The British had disrupted the lands of the African and were put under their control which had resulted in people losing their lives.
Negative impacts of the colonization of africa were lot of colonialists would follow imperialistic notions of superiority and domination over african people. Additionally, they would attempt to extend their authority by forcefully taking over various territories and establish their own economic and political demands. As a result a lot of the african resources along with the people of Africa were exploited for the benefit of the colonialists, the exploitation of their land and resources led to nothing being available to the the local people of
Throughout history, imperialism has led countries to extend their rule over weaker countries and then colonized those countries to expand their own power. Imperialism allows the ruling countries to use the weaker countries for their resources. Colonizing other countries would then lead to growth and a better reputation for the dominating country. There are many examples of imperialism throughout European history. When many European countries “scrambled” for Africa, it seemed as though Africa had no say in anything. During the 19th century, Europe found a way to use Africa for their own growth and power. Using Africa for their resources, the Europeans colonized Africa without a second thought. European imperialism in Africa had a negative impact because of social disarray, cultural loss, and death it caused.
