...es are located in Oklahoma, Oklahoma City and Tulsa, and 65 percent of Oklahomans live within their metropolitan areas, or spheres of economic and social influence defined by the United States Census Bureau as a metropolitan statistical area. Oklahoma City, the state's capital and largest city, had the largest metropolitan area in the state in 2010, with 1,252,987 people, and the metropolitan area of Tulsa had 937,478 residents. Oklahoma is where I was born and raised and I would not trade the experience to live here to live anywhere in the world. Oklahoma is my family and I love being able to tell people I am originally from Oklahoma and this is where I will remain. Oklahoma is beautiful, friendly, and home. Although the weather gets out of control at times, and I never really know what tomorrow will hold. I know that Oklahoma will always be the place I call home.

In recent years Portland, Oregon has become one of the country’s most popular cities to live in. The influx of technology, creative marketing industries and environmental consciousness have all lead to the desirability of the area. Although the number of pull factors drawing people to Portland is high, Portland’s racial reputation is the main cause of gentrification in this area. Portland is becoming one of the United State’s worst example of displacement of Black residents, and the fastest gentrifying city. (Savitch-Lew, 2016) “Portland has experienced gentrification in more neighborhoods than any other of the nation’s fifty largest cities since 2000.” (Law, 2015) Portland neighborhoods are being hit hard by this. Given the opportunity to live in a major bustling metropolis or in a surrounding nestled suburb what would you choose? Surprisingly, a number of people contend with this decision everyday. Some relocate because of employment opportunities, warmer weather, to be closer to family or simply for a change of scenery. The reasons for moving are as abundant as the options when considering city or suburban life. When considering either choice, one may be attracted to the luxurious high rises and breathtaking views of the city or the sprawling greenery and family oriented atmosphere of the suburbs. Whether moving around the corner or across the country, consideration of cost, commute and community may be the most important factors in determining if city or suburban living is the best choice for you.
Cash flow is very important when choosing a living environment. Living in the city can easily be more expensive, if you do not know where to look. But it can also be very competitive with that of your spending in the country. Apartments can be very affordable in a rent-controlled neighborhood, and are much more feasible for families, or students just starting out on their own; whereas, in the country, you may have to buy a home or hard to find cheap rentals. Transportation costs, groceries, taxes, and utilities are common expenditures for any adult. But, many may find that a large amount of money can be saved on these living expenses in a city.
Everyone hates how the city is neither cold or warm, but everyone loves the opportunities that San Francisco has to offer. San Francisco is the home of technology, music and art, and there is a way in for anyone. Another great feature about the city is how open it is, too all the different cultures. My parents themselves would never go back to their homelands, because San Francisco is better than Belarus or Ukraine. People are free to think and act, and are not controlled by the government. As someone, who was born in the city, I am thankful for all the people not originally from our small city. I have the chance to meet people from all over the world, some from different countries, states, and even those just a few cities away. With San Francisco being the home of technology, music and art, it allows different genres of people to mingle. Katy was a director for Disney, Phillip had his own pool company, both my roommates are in tech, and my parents are in real estate. Everyday I am thankful for being born into such a beautiful
