...bed or in another house. Randy came by and told him that Johnny killed Bob. The best literary element for this chapter is plot. The major plot in this chapter is when Randy told Ponyboy that Johnny killed Bob. “ Listen to me, Pony. You didn’t do anything. It was your friend Johnny that had the knife…” (Hinton 165)
"He's as hard as a rock and about as human...he thinks I'm a pain in the neck. He likes Soda--everybody likes Soda--but he can't stand me” (42). This does show that Pony does not get along very well with Darry, however it shows that Ponyboy does get along well with Soda. Pony finds comfort in Soda when he fights with Darry. Sodapop helps tighten the three brother relationship.“ ‘We‘re all we got left. We ought to be able to stick together against everything. If we don‘t have each other, we don‘t have anything. If you don‘t have anything, you end up like Dallas . . . and I don‘t mean dead, either. I mean like he was before. And that‘s worse than dead. Please’ ”- he wiped his eyes on his arm- “ ‘don‘t fight anymore’ ” says Soda (176). “ ‘Sure... sure little buddy, we ain't goin' to fight anymore’ ” Darry answers (176). This demonstrates that eventually Ponyboy and Darry stop
Ponyboy talks about him as having ", an elfish face with high cheekbones and a pointed chin, small, sharp animal teeth, and ears like a lynx. His hair was so blond, and he didn't like haircuts, or hair oil either, so it fell over his forehead in wisps and kicked out in the back in tufts and curled behind his ears and along the nape of his neck. His eyes were blue, blazing ice, cold with a hatred of the whole world. “He works as a jockey, and funnily doesn't rig his races; it's "the only thing Dally did honestly." Even though he is only seventeen years old, "the fight for self-preservation had hardened him beyond caring." He set the stereotype for the greasers its scary to the others how scary he is. In the events when Johnny killed Bob dally helped out the boys and gifted them one handgun and $100. Ponyboy realizes the truth after Johnny's death. When he tries to make sense of Dally's reaction to Johnny's death, it dawns on him, "Johnny was the only thing that Dally
Dally did something to save one of his gang members too. It was Dally who pulled Johnny out from the burning church. Johnny would have died instantly if Dally did not get Johnny out of the church. When Dally was shot, Ponyboy remembered the things Dally had done for them.
I also don't own the idea, it was requested to me by the wonderful Amanda. Thank you so much! I hope I did this idea justice.
There is a hero in us all. A hero is someone who risks their own life to save or do good for others. Ponyboy is a hero because he risked his life to save children from a burning church. Johnny is a hero even though he killed someone it was to save his friend’s life but he also saved children from a burning church. Dally has been arrested, picks fights, and drinks, but when it comes to the people he is close with he has his soft spots for them. All bad boys have a good side.
Dally was hard, but this incident would eventually change him for the better. The only thing Dally loved, Johnny, gave Ponyboy words of advice for Dally, “Listen,
First, Johnny and Dally both die tragically after making unwise decisions in their lives. Johnny died while rescuing children from a burning church and in the eyes of the rescued children’s parents was a hero. But reluctantly this was not the case. In fact, Johnny had just killed a rival member from the Soc’s in self-defense. After which Johnny tells Ponyboy “‘I killed him,’ he said slowly. ‘I killed that boy.’ As Bob, the handsome Soc was lying there in the moonlight a dark pool growing
The next night Pony and two other gang members, Dallas Winston (Dally) and Johnny Cade, go to a drive-in movie. There they meet Sherri
The void in his hopeless eyes was immediately filled with anger. "I didn't kill anyone!" he yelled and tried to lunge at him but the boy was held back by the chains, "I tried to save them but I was too weak to do it on my own! You all left my friends to die..." he lowered his head as tears welled up in his eyes and flowed down his cheeks. "I begged and begged," his voice
Every story I’ve ever read has had characters. When there’s characters, there are ones that are stronger and more memorable than others. This quarter, the three characters I’ve found strongest and memorable are Ponyboy Curtis, Dallas “Dally” Winston, and Johnny Cade.
Ponyboy loves his hair because it took him a long time to grow it out, it is an important part of his identity, and it is the only thing he truly has. First Ponyboy snaps at Johnny and says “It took me a long time to get that hair just the way I wanted it.” (73). This means that it will take a long time for his hair to grow back and for the bleach to grow out; Ponyboy knows this and is saddened by his loss. Next Ponyboy thinks “Our hair labeled us greasers, too- it was our trademark. The one thing we were proud of.” (71). This quote tells us many things about Ponyboy and Johnny, for example “The one thing we were proud of.”; tells us quite literally that he's proud of his hair. Another fragment of this quote, “Our hair labeled us greasers,
He ran into the burning building with Ponyboy and Johnny. He helped save multiple children from the burning church, and lead them to safety. After they got all the children out of the fire, Dally noticed that Johnny and Pony were still inside. Dally climbed backed into the fire, grabbed Ponyboy and helped him outside, suffering only burns to his face. Dally then climbed back into the fire to pull out Johnny while the church was collapsing. Although Dally made it out of the fire with only one burnt arm, Johnny still passed away a few days later. Dally was so upset, he couldn’t accept that his best friend was gone. Dally was so angry that he robbed a store and ended up getting shot by police officers. Although he wasn’t perfect, Dally showed all three of my hero qualities; loyalty, courage, and kindness. Dally too, died a
