Today’s plumbing is better than traditional plumbing because today’s plumbing provides a much healthier and safer environment.
According to APEC WATER, they wrote an article that states, “Although galvanized (zinc-coated) pipe is still considered to be a safe transport material for drinking water, there are still potential health concerns if the water supply is corrosive due to its acidic condition.. The concern is not for zinc or iron… but for lead and especially cadmium, two other heavy metals that may present impurities in the water”(Are There Any Potential Health Risks Associated With Corrosion Byproducts From Water Transported Through Galvanized Drinking Water Pipes?).With advancing technology, it ensures that the materials used and the …show more content…

Their lightweight nature allows for more freedom for the plumber when it comes to designing or repairing a pipe layout. Joining CPVC and copper is also much easier than joining galvanized. This leaves less room for error, as joining CPVC and copper are much simpler than joining an old pipe like galvanized. Since there will be less room for error, there will be less potential for any leaks. Also, since these pipes are more resistant to impurities being presented in the water, it will further protect the safety and health of the nation. This benefits the plumber, as they keep a good reputation with their clients. This may be due to the reliability of copper, which has proven to be able to last longer than 75 years, whereas PEX has not even existed for that long. Copper has natural attributes that keeps the water flowing inside completely clear of bacteria and helps the water stay clean and healthy for the consumer. Plumbers with many years of experience see no reason why to use the new technology. As they are so familiar with things like copper and how to join them and they know how reliable the material is as well. These hardened plumbers see no reason for change. According to Legendary Home Services, “The number one detraction of ProPress is expense. Basic ProPress machines will cost upwards of one thousands dollars, and bigger or more advanced units will cost much more.. The fittings are also much more expensive than sweat fittings”(Sweating the Big Stuff: Professional Plumbers Debate ProPress vs. Soldering a Pipe Joint).
