Some present-day readers believe slavery began in Jamestown in 1619…if such readers are aware of slavery’s existence in the ancient world, the assume it had become extinct until New World plantations arose with their greed for cheap labor.
1. You should include a conclusion paragraph in your paper. A conclusion re-caps on what you have discussed in your paper. In one sentence each describe what you wrote in each paragraph. Recently, I have been writing quite a few essays and papers throughout my college experience. This entails, but not limited to, English, History, and Economics. My style of writing and methods have generally remained the same throughout the process. In this assignment, I will be discussing how I prepare to start a paper, what my thoughts are through the process, and my strengths and weaknesses of what my final drafts look like.
Slavery was created in pre-revolutionary America at the start of the seventeenth century. By the time of the Revolution, slavery had undergone drastic changes and was nothing at all what it was like when it was started. In fact the beginning of slavery did not even start with the enslavement of African Americans. Not only did the people who were enslaved change, but the treatment of slaves and the culture that each generation lived in, changed as well.
Colonists started to import slaves from South America in hopes that they would live longer and be more manageable to control. The slaves that were imported were trained past their first year of slavery, so that they would not die as fast. The first imported slaves came to America in the early 17th century. When they received the slaves, they found out some of them were baptized, and were under the Christian religion. So they could not be treated as slaves under the religion, so they were turned into indentured servants.
Slavery began soon after the English landed in America. During the early years, slavery existed alongside indentured servitude. As the colonies expanded, some colonists attempted to enslave the native population. After little success, colonists increased the number of slaves
Early slavery in America in the south was minimal and sometimes temporary. The first slave brought to America was in Virginia in 1619.
The first African slaves were brought to the colony of Jamestown, Virginia in 1619. They were brought over so that they could aid the production of crops. Caucasians believed they were superior then the Africans thus making them slaves. Many believed they could profit from having slaves. Example: instead of paying someone to work the filed or do any hard labor whites used Africans as slaves. The Africans would work for free and the slave owners would save money. Realistically speaking the treatments of slaves varied from a mild mistreatment to a sadist horrific torture.

Slavery is thought by some to have started in 1619 when African Americans were brought to North America for this injustice. In Slave Songs and the Birth of African American Poetry, throughout this book Lauri Ramey talks about how slavery songs and well as poems started evolving as how it was used as an aid and support to slaves. In the book Ramey says how “no one at the time seemed to be entirely sure of what they were [slave songs], where they came from, and most of all, how to evaluate them” (Ramey). This means how the songs only had a deep meaning to only the slave community because only they could feel that pain and what each word of that song meant personally since they were the ones going through all of these events. In Joseph Carroll’s article about parent/teen relations he states that “About 65% of teens at the ages of 14-17 don’t “like or get along”, with their parents.” Teenagers this age are going through life changes, and feel as though they know what’s best for them which causes problems in the household. Some teens leave to live on their own before they reach the age of eighteen, to get away from their parents. To leave a household before reaching the age of eighteen you must become emancipated .When it comes to emancipation I believe minors between the ages of 14-17 should be able to emancipate themselves, in doing so because of certain situations that can cause harm to the child physically, mentally, and emotionally.
For the research paper, the topic I chose was breast cancer. I spoke about why I chose to do research on breast cancer, because my aunt battled with breast cancer a few years ago and died. The research I conducted was to inform my readers about breast cancer. My research paper contained what is breast cancer that was introduce in my first paragraph. In my paper, there were examples of symptoms such as, pulling in of the nipple and the discharge coming out of the nipple, statistics in men and women, causes of breast cancer, treatments of breast cancer, and ways to reduce risk of breast cancer.
